I got the unlocked V3m (it says Verizon on it) because I intended to eventually use it it with Page Plus. In the same fashion, I'd get a locked V3m if I intended to use it with Sprint, Metro, Cricket or the like. Carriers like Virgin and American Movil are out of the question for 'bring your own device.'
