There seems to be a lot of discussion about the update. Can anyone let us know what the update actually does/improves? Would be great to know!
Thanks for you efforts.

Hey guys. I was posting in a diff thread about all this, but since it was a little off topic, decided to make a new one.
So since someone figured out how to get unlock codes for this cell, I decided to go through and try to update it using the official LG updater.
It goes through all the steps for me, but after downloading the update, it gives me an error saying "Updating is not possible any longer due to a fatal error while the LG Mobile Phone Software Update."
I've been trying for a while to figure out why it does this, but no idea.
I figured out where it saves the update file to. C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone (Phone directory is hidden, and only shows up when downloading)
The file is named VM510PV7_01.cab , But right after it finishes downloading it and extracting, deletes it (along with the folder)
I was able to stop it from being deleted after it was downloaded, and then uploaded it to megaupload.
Here's a link http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KRNTGQJ8
Inside the .cab is too files
VM510PV7_01.S7_01.P61006.wdb
VM510PV7_01.S7_01.P61006.wdh
Anyone have some ideas here?

Have you tried loading it onto an sd card and running it from the phone?
Nope nothin. Tried it in the APPS folder, main directory, and even made one and tried an UPDATE folder, still nothin. (though I doubted it would work.)
Dang it! hmmm Im stumped for the moment :-p
the only thing ive noticed was the menus seemed to move a little faster i thought... on the new frimware. i had the old firmware and got a replacement phone with the new firmware on it. nothing has hugely changed otherwise i think i would have noticed... i wish i knew what they changed, but it doesnt seem like anything good
also, now that we know how to unlock the SPC on rumor touch, have you put it in "DM mode" in the ##port# menu and tried to update it then?
Yes I have done that but its still the same problem
The .wdb file is, likely, an encrypted filesystem image and not an executable - google search for LG-UTILS and .cab and .wdb - my search brought me back here, hoping someone found an app that could mount the .wdb as an image. No luck so far.
I can make an educated guess, the BrewMP Developer Environment. I figured out all the bells and whistles to get it set up, but out of the three different ways I haven't found one that doesn't lock down after 30 days or so. Still on my plate of stuff to do.
You MIGHT try downloading FileAlyzer and have it scan the files to see what type of encryption they use. That might crack them wide open, if they're not using some sort of proprietary encryption.
you can load the cab file with this KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2 as far as I know. I uploaded it to my google documents brad zerns I haven't posted enough posts here to post links so you'll have to search google for me.
