USB connection seems to be wearing out. New cables, old cables, charger - phone tends to ignore any cable. If I hold my teeth just right it'll start working. Got it through Amazon, going to have to try to warranty it but not expecting much. Bummed.

If the leaks are true then: Symbian Carla and Donna coming after Belle, N8 successor may run Donna w/ dual core per http://www.phonearena.com/news/Symbi...upport_id23819
I was at the mall shopping for an E7 and found two merchants with the device. They have Silver only but these pieces have two alphabets/characters that suggest they are Spanish models. They are "?" in upsidedown position and letter "N" with a bar on it. I don't mind that too much especially in So. Florida. But am not sure these are original devices. First I can't open it up to see the country of manufacture but the blue boxes show "Made in China". I did fondled and played with one from a box that was opened in my presence and it is beautiful and solid. Everything else looks O.K. But I need to make sure am not buying a Chinese knockoff. Can somebody that knows educate me on how to find out if these are genuine or knockoffs. One is $315.00, the other is $325.00; both in unopened small blue Nokia boxes. Thanks in advance for you advice.
I'm not home to see any of my nokia boxes, but isnt th IMEI and Product Code listed outside of the box? Maybe you can get those and browse for info on the internet. Also, I'd be interested to see which "spanish" version it is...if its a Euro version from spain or the Latin American version.
After you decide to buy/or not buy let me know the vendor and what you found out about the devices...those are very decent prices for an E7. I'd like to see if they have an online way to order. I'm honestly surpriced that you were able to find the e7 at a store...i've never seen an e7 or n8 at a store.
really? i see in independent cellphone stores all the time. prices are expensive though and there's no warranty for them pretty much.
i would look around in the OS. usually if you go deep into the settings, if it's a knockoff, the setting will either not be there, or the fonts and stuff changes. i would also check for the about phone part to see if ti says symbian on it. the IMEI for the phone should be under the hdmi cap.
Thanks for the quick response. They are "isle kiosks" in the place, not the big stores with doors; but they do have several unlocked phones. I saw the Product Code and the IMEI numbers on the boxes but I never thought of noting them down for further research. Will do that tomorrow. The writings on the boxes were English, Spanish and one other language. Will post whatever I find because I can't afford to buy a Chinese knockoff.
I ordered mine from newegg.ca for $399. The IMEI is on a sticker on the back of the phone I guess because you can't access the battery where it is on my 5230.
Newegg.ca still has it for the same price and it ships from California. I just looked at newegg.com and it's $499.
Finally - I got a deal over U.S. prices.
Thanks to all that advised and guided me on this matter. Based on the info given to me, I found out the IMEI # generated by one of the phones does not match the # on the box. Another one does not have product code or SN on its box. Upon further due dilligence, I decided to get a device specific to North America cos of the specificity of Nokia products to different locales. So I let Santa know my wish since I 've been good all yearIt did not come by Xmas day but I received a letter from 1224 Snowflake Blvd., Iceberg, North Pole (Santa's Home address) apologizing for the oversight. One of his elks forgot to pack my gift and they found it upon arrival back home after delivering all over the Northern Hemisphere. Now he says he's sending it thru Amazon and should be here January 3rd at the latest. I am thinking I should update to "Anna" before I do anything else to avoid the imbroglio facing many of those who are updating after having used their devices for a while before Ms. "Anna" was released by Nokia. What do you all suggest?
yea i would definitely do all the updates first.
