The Nokia E7-00, also known as Nokia E7, is a business-oriented QWERTY smartphone by Nokia from the Nokia Eseries[4][5] It was announced at Nokia world in September 2010 together with the Nokia C6-01 and Nokia C7[6][7][8][5] and started shipping in February 2011. It is the second phone after the Nokia N8 to be running the Symbian^3 operating system.
When compared with the Nokia N8,[9] it has fixed mass storage of 16GB without a memory card slot, no FM transmitter and a less advanced camera, with Extended Depth of Field, instead of autofocus as in the N8 and the E90.[3] Like the Nokia N8, it comes with an HDMI-out connector and a non-user-replaceable battery that is smaller than the E90's.[10]
It has the same keyboard spring mechanism as the Nokia N97 mini, but has like the N8 an anodized aluminium casing. All this is different from the bulkier and heavier E90.[3]
Compared to the Nokia N97 mini and E90, the E7-00 has a multitouch capacitive touchscreen. Unlike the N8, N97 mini, and the E90, the E7-00 has an Active-matrix OLED (AMOLED) ClearBlack technology with a slightly lower resolution than the E90.[3] Vlasta Berka, general manager of Nokia Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, talked about the trend of users who are using their smartphones for business.
does anyone know of any other NOkia FULL KEYBOARD successor to the e7? Either symbian or windows mobile?
I think I may buy a new e7 in the next month or so but If there is a windows version or another more powerful symbian version in the near future I may wait for that.
Something weird is happening with my e7...I've had it for less than a week...all worked well then just today I noticed two weird things.
The most problematic thing is the USB connector is partially not responding. I say partially because when you plug it in the phone blinks as if accepting the USB connector but then nothing else happens...no battery charging and no response if plugged into a computer. I tried connecting it to a Nokia USB car charger and I'm using a nokia USB cable to connect it to my laptop. I also don't see the charging light lit up as usual.
The weird thing is that if the cable is connected, If I turn the phone off...the charging light will come on for a few seconds...but then turn off.
...on a slighter second note the other weird thing I noticed is that my gps goes kind of crazy. I was taking a 1 hr trip on a single highway and following along the same road the GPS would keep refreshing over and over and would think I was in other cross roads to the highway I was in.
I had USB issues when I had my E7. It would not recognize that the charger was plugged in all the time. I would have to plug and unplug it over and over until it would start charging. Eventually the USB completely stopped recognizing when anything was plugged into it and I needed to send it into Nokia for repairs. They did not question anything so I'm thinking that it is probably a known issue for this phone. I would say that if you just got your phone, you should send it back for a replacement.

Wow, I had this happen to mine too... but being in Canada with a US warranty I'm pretty much screwed (and I think I'm just over a year anyway). I'm since moved on to the Lumia 900 but kept the E7 as a backup. I do intend to get it fixed but here I was thinking I'd done something to cause the issue. Guess not. Thanks for posting.
I have no problem with mine although I have been careful with it since day one since I need it to charge.
I use Dukto and Nokia Drop so I rarely plug it into my PC and just stick to using the charger.
that's the thing tho...the e7, unlike the n8, only has the usb for charging and no 2mm charging port so if it's your daily device you HAVE to use the USB port every day at least once.
I'm going to try to send it back and see what happens.
To be honest I never even took the wall charger that came with my e7 out...but since the e7 only has the mini usb port I'm willing to say the wall charger is also mini-usb on the end that goes to the phone.

it is. but you never said stated whether or not it works on the charger or not. it could just be that it didn't work with the computer for some reason.
Yes - I always use the wall charger. For one thing - one side has the usb logo and a "B" etched in it which faces up when the phone faces up so I know I'm not trying to plug it in upside down.
