The e7 looks amazing, but by the time it launches the N9 will look more amazing...

His leak was timed to the announcement, not the other way around, though. I.e. he knew the announcement date and times his "preview" to it.

If the E7 isn't making it out this year I'm beginning to doubt that the N9 will be here this year either...I'd love for someone to prove me wrong

The N9 is not coming until late/early Q1/Q2 2011. Should be aligned with a new branding push by Nokia at the same time.

Both of those will be interesting to see. According to Nokia's Savander, Meego is largely meant for the U.S. and Western European markets, i.e. those drawn to the latest tech gadgets on the bleeding edge.

In addition, I'm curious what type of branding for a 'new' Nokia would entail. It's very easy to get it wrong (see: Microsoft and Palm).

That seriously blows. I hope it'll still stand up to the competition then. Is this branding push global?

Guess the N8 is the flagship for this year then.

EDIT: does it have anything to do with this Mobile Computing 2010 commercial?

I've read other reports, at this point *who* knows what's accurate; Nokia is aiding the speculation by allowing an information vacuum. I suspect that due to recent management changes, their release dates are now prone to drastic changes.

I've heard: the N9 is announced at the end of this year, but won't be generally available at retail until this time next year.

Slightly OT, but is the N9 going to be a significant upgrade over the E7?

It's kinda hard to answer that. Both phones run on different OS. If you ever used the n900 then chances are that you will like the n9 more if you liked Maemo...

From what I've heard e7 this year and n9 early next year. Too close between the 2 phones. If the e7 would have launched at the same time as the n8 I would have been more likely to pick it up.

By the time the e7 launches, we will have a better idea of what the n9 will look like at launch and it already looks sweet...

doesn't matter to me, I'll get the E7 than give it to my mother to replace her E71-2...
the HDMI would be good for watching videos of my nieces n nephew....
then it's on to the N9 and Meego....
If I had waited just one month before switching from T-Mo to ATT I would have heard about the N900 and would've stayed w/ T-Mo...
so, I've been anxious to give Meego a run...

That's a shame about the N900 for ya. I couldn't keep it myself because of the 3g issues (speed/calls/speaker buzz). But at least the N9 is truly something to look forward to...

Massive increase in storage (64GB with microSD expansion IIRC, so up to 96GB?), much higher resolution (WVGA vs nHD), should have autofocus camera but the flash will be comparable and otherwise comparable. That sounds significant to me.

I love T-Mo AWS waaaaaay more than AT&T 3G, at least just west of LA. Regularly see3-6M down and 1-1.7M up while I never see more than 800k on AT&T and typically see 200-300k upstream and often less. When I go further east, they're more comparable (for the worse)

^Looks like I'll be waiting for the N9, provided it's released sometime before the end of next year.

N8 is now available. So, any info/rumor when E7 is coming?
