I have a contract with Telus that is up in April (Blackberry), and I want to go over to Rogers at the end of it. I also want to switch over to the Milestone.
I have purchased an unlocked Milestone and want to play around with it until my contract is up in April, then go onto a Rogers data/voice contract. In the meantime, I was planning to put on a prepaid Rogers SIM and just use WiFi for the data stuff, as I am around WiFi 90% of the time.
When I try to activate my SIM and use the IMEI of my Milestone, the Rogers site tells me that my phone is not eligible for prepaid service. If I take it to a Rogers dealer, would they be able to help me, or is there just no way, no how that this can be done.
Smartphones should work on pre-paid, in fact I am using my HTC magic on pre-paid right now. But I set up the account with an moto razr that I had before the magic. So either try use the IMEI from an old phone or try give em a call.
Rogers knows that I am using a smartphone cause they have data options for smartphones when I try access the web on 3g.

So the IMEI is not really being activated in the sense that Roger's has to allow it; it is really the pre-paid card that is being activated but the IMEI is just being used to make sure it is a "valid" phone?
I think I have an old Fido phone, which I hope should work, otherwise I can prolly just buy their cheapest pre-paid phone, or I can try giving them a call; just tell them I am visiting and just wanted to have my phone work up here...
