Is there a consensus then that the G2 does not work in Europe?

I have an unlocked G2 from Tmobile, and I have now used it in Italy, France and Germany, as well as Hong Kong and Japan. It works in all locations.

Among the handsets on t-mobile.com, the ones having Band I (2100) listed in the specs are:

    LG Santio
    LG dLite
    Motorola CLIQ XT
    Nokia E73 Mode
    Garmin-Asus Garminfone
    Samsung Vibrant
    HTD HD2

Then again, who knows if these specs are accurate. Nokia Nuron doesn’t even have UMTS Band IV in the specs

You and keyguy5 both have reported that the G2 works in Europe. My we assume that you are referring to the 3G (UMTS Band I) functionality, and not just GSM/EDGE?

(I was hoping to confirm this myself when I took my G2 to Turkey last month, but unfortunately the phone effectively died on me and I couldn't replace it until I returned to the States.)

    Thanks,
    Dave

The G2 is an international phone

To clear something up, the 1700/2100, that is shown, should be read as the following:

    1700 = AWS paired band / Euro 2100.

When you see plain 1700, that is the AWS band which T-Mobile uses.

Some of the bands you will see on phones are:

    850/1900/2100, 900/1700/2100, 1700/2100, and soon Penta-band 3G devices showing 850/900/1700/1900/2100, which Nokia's phones are starting to have.

two people reported G2 worked in EU, but not mention it was on 3G or not.
for sure the 2G - GSM is working in EU and any GSM world
T-Mobile - the largest fake 4G network in Americas

    HTC HD2 Speed on 3G/HSDPA

    T-mobile 3G/H or Pharos 137

My WM phone is the best GPS now, say good bye junk Andriod

I am in St Petersburg, Russia. I have an "officially" unlocked G2 from T-mobile. Neither G2 or G3 work here on either BeeLine or Megafon providers even when "Use only G2" is selected ("saves power"). The protocol being use is listed as UMTS.

I also have a generic Chinese made dual SIM phone I got off eBay. It works just fine on G3 using either BeeLine or Megafon and is using EDGE.

Go figure it, people. Am I missing something or is Russia just different in this as it is, of course, in many things? Email me please if you post as I don't check in here often and would like to get this resolved before I return to the states ;-) <rwhaller42@yahoo.com>.

    I think you're confusing the T-Mobile G2 by HTC with "3g" and "2g" service.
