Galaxy S - Vibrate Function Not Working

From the "power control" bar at the top I use the quicktouch to enable vibration mode. From my work phone I gave my phone a ring and no vibration. I don't remember it ever working since getting the phone.

Maybe the vibrate function is broken or do you think there is some other setting I haven't enabled for it to work? I'm coming from a prehistoric, black and white flip phone so this smartphone business is new to a caveman such as myself.

    Please, me need fix.

Have you tried rebooting your phone? There's maybe a glitch in the software preventing the activation of the vidration function. If you use the volume rocker on the side, and bring it to vibration, does it work?

I have rebooted several times and haven't had it vibrate. When I push the volume rocker down the volume lowers and it eventually shows that I enabled the vibrate feature but it still doesn't vibrate at that exact moment. I guess it's supposed to? Seems busted then =/

Hm yeah my phone also vibrates if I use the volume buttons to set it to vibrate. Has your phone ever vibrated?

Does 'haptic feedback' (vibrate when you do stuff) work? You can turn it on in Sounds and Display settings, but I think it was on by default.

Finally if it doesn't seem like it will vibrate try getting Z-DeviceTest from the market. One the functions is a vibration tester. If that doesn't work I think you'd have to get it serviced.
