I wonder when this will be available. I need to travel over seas for 3 weeks, and will need to have a way to get my laptop onto the internet for work. If this comes out by November and can be rooted and wifi tether works, then that would be the ideal solution (assuming VZW would give me codes to unlock it to use a foreign SIM card).

My thoughts exactly. I'm going abroad in December and would LOVE to grab this phone before my trip. Seeing as how it has popped up on VZW's training site already, it will almost certainly be available by early November.

And last I checked, as long as your account has been in good standing for at least 6 months, they will give you the unlock code for free. At least that's how it was back in February, hopefully they haven't changed their policy since then

The Droid 2 Global has now appeared in the Verizon Training System
    http://www.everythingandroid.org/dro...em/2010/10/15/

I think that the 1.2 GHz rumor (if true) will make this the fastest clock speed of any phone (before over clocking ) at the time of its release.

I know xbernaut is trying to keep me from getting my hopes dashed, but here's another "leak", purportedly from Motorola and showing the 1.2 Ghz again:

So it appears VZW's GSM unlocking policy has changed slightly; your phone needs to be active on the line for at least 60 days before they will unlock it. And I was hoping to get a D2 Global unlocked before my trip abroad in December. Booo

Anyone know when the htc slider is going to come out, and what the diffs will be. I have the droid original, I would really like a world phone, this is kind of intriguing. I am not thrilled with the original's keyboard, I have played with the htc winmo phone and the keyboard is great, but it is thicker than the droid.
