Using Blackberry Curve 3G, indoors near Sheppard/Leslie, USB tether using BB Desktop.

I get about half that when I use Bluetooth DUN.

    Hi,

Can I ask you the settings for tethering using the Curve ?
I tried to use BB desktop with no luck.

    Thanks

Nothing special in terms of settings for USB tether using BB desktop. Just entered wap.davewireless.com as the APN (setup a custom profile, I don't think there's a built-in profile for Mobilicity), left all other fields blank and it worked.

I have a problem. When I tether I get speeds upto 2.5Mb/s. However when I use from my phone it crawls. Any idea what is happening? I have a nexus one.

I have the exact same problem. I can use the internet nice and quickly on my computer when tethered but on the phone its usually pretty slow even with full bars.

Are the posted speeds normal for data, or do they seem kinda slow? I'm wondering if Mobi is cheaping out by throttling, hence the lower price.

I live around Don Mills & Lawrence and wanted to test my speeds to share with you all.

On my phone (Nexus One), I got 1.67 Mbps download and 1.29Mbps upload. Nothing earth shattering.

Then I tried to set up USB tethering on my N1 (Acer Aspire One netbook running Windows XP and using Chrome as my browser) and got this:

Lastly I tried setting up a portable wifi hotspot, again on my N1 and got this:

Forgot to add, the tests were done in the basement of my home, full signal.

    Mimico area

    October 19, 2010
    around 10pm:
    downstream 1.88Mbps
    upstream 0.34Mbps

    October 20, 2010
    around 6:30am
    downstream 2.62Mbps
    upstream 0.35Mbps

I find that the pure speeds are acceptable. However, something is very "fishy" with Mobilicity's implementation of traffic shaping/throtling when tethering. If you try to stream any type of video, be prepared for 3-5 bursts of data that starts and stops on a constant basis. To me, this means that Mobilicity needs to stop advertising it's data package as "unlimited data". In my opinion, Mobilcity's "data" is nothing more than a glorified version of Unlimited Mobile Browsing. I would dare say that users should not expect much more than that. If you are fine with just "browsing", it'll probably suit you fine but for more extensive data applications, forget it.

HTC Snap tethered via internet sharing, tested near Spadina/Bloor at 1:30pm:

I then got WMWifiRouter working and tested again:

A further test at Speakeasy.net, Chicago server, gave me the following:

Download Speed: 2612 kbps (326.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1110 kbps (138.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

does your WMWifirouter drop the connection a lot? Mine works for a while and then just stops working... I have to disconnect and reconnect... it sucks.

I only tried WMWifirouter for about 10 minutes and had no drops. It wasn't working for me at first but when I switched the connection from MoInternet to MoWAP it started behaving. I will have to do some more testing to see if I get the disconnections.

Are you using an unlocked Nexus One? If so make sure the proxy of 10.100.3.4 is not there in the settings. I inputed it from the complete setting list on this forum, has almost no internet on my G2, then deleted it and left the other setting, now I get 2.69 mbps down and .96 up. Don't know about the Mobi N1 though
    Cheers
