I wanted to mentioned that the data throughput can vary greatly depending on nothing more than which phone that you use.

With a tethered Nokia 5230, speed tests result in numbers of between 2.5 and 3.0Mbpsdownstream but is upstream result is always around 0.35Mbps.

I have also tried the same speed tests using a tethered Nokia E73 and the upstream results are always conisistently better. For example, with the Nokia E73, I just got a result of 2.70/1.11Mbps. This is repeatable.

    Pings are kind of yucky.

    MY DATA SPEED IS...

    DOWNLOAD: 0.91 Mb/s

    UPLOAD: 0.97 Mb/s

    SERVER: Radnor, OH

    1. I'm surfing from my phone (not laptop or tethering)

    2. Why is my connection so slow???

    3. Also why is my connection from Ohio? It used to be St. Catherines ON last week. I'm in the GTA so what does server mean?

What speed test website are you on? Blackberrys use compressed data, your best off tethering to your laptop and using a speedtest from there for an accurate measurement.

Are you tethering? The server should be the closest one to you, the further it is, the worse data speed you will get. The server is basically the 'computer' that is transferring you data for the purspose of the test.

Getting 3.2mbps @ Sheppard and Markham. They are definitely throttling certain websites and apps. speedtest.net is unreliable and doesn't accurately report your true speed.

Mobilicity's internet service is outsourced to MTS Allstream which is based in the US. It used the Ohio server because of that.
