Still not seeing any work done to the towers in MT.. maybe there working at night? Or maybe it don't take as long to convert as I think and they'll get it all done in December..
GSM was already on most of these towers... all they need to add is the eNodeB from Ericcson and they should be ready to go.
Fiber backhaul for Verizon in Southern Illinois in 2013 - about time.
Except they are using all new hardware and a lot more backhaul for the AT&T stuff. The old WWC 2G GSM will most likely be ripped out and sold off as surplus.
Most of the radios for the microwave backhaul network have been replaced with a packet based system that can support up to 10gbps. 90% of the changes to the network are inside the equipment buildings. Most of the work is being done between 11pm and 5 am which is why you arent noticing much being done.
Figured they would be working at night..so they are working in MT and WY already?
AT&T kiosks are now up at Walmart in Aberdeen. No phones out for display yet though. And I noticed none of the regular Alltel stores have changed yet.
Any word on when the switch will be official? I know that the ship date for my iphone is 1-16-2011 so I'm guessing not til after that at least.
Just curious if anyone else got the txt message from Alltel "Thank you for your phone order. We will notify you again when phone has shipped in the late February or March." I thought that we were suppose to convert in the middle of January. Does that mean that things are starting to lag behind on the conversion in Eastern South Dakota?
Yes I got a text saying the same thing. I have not heard anything about any delays.
