Dell Streak headed to Rogers in November

I did play around with a Streak from a friend who bought it from the states. It was nice but IMO I found it too big to be a primary phone. It looked gay to carry on a belt clip and it was big to carry in your pocket.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm thinking too. Well, maybe not "gay", but definitely kinda nerdy. You'd almost have to get the matching pocket protector!

On the other hand, it may be just the ticket for women since they can put it in their purses, or the guys that always carry a messenger bag or a man-purse.

A buddy of mine carries his around in his pocket. He even uses the pouch since it is new and he is paranoid.

Personally I think the 4.3" phones are probably the perfect balance but this is not unreasonable.

He used the "Rebel Sim II" ... it is a bit of electronics that slips into the SIM slot with his Rogers SIM card. Don't know how it works but he has had no issues.

Can anyone using a Rogers Dell Streak streak confirm one thing for me? I've read many conflicting reports about whether or not the default stock web browser does "text reflow" the way pretty much every other Android phone in existence does. Meaning, when you pinch-zoom to make text size larger, does it automatically re-adjust the text/column width to fit/wrap the screen width, thus eliminating the need to ever have to scroll horizontally? As I say every other Android web browser does this.

So with the Streak, does it:

1. Reflow/word-wrap the text as soon as you pinch zoom a web page

2. Not reflow as soon as you pinch zoom, but reflow once you double-tap the text after pinch zooming? (some other Androids do this)

3. Not reflow text at all ever, even after pinch zooming and then double tapping?


Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Is it only the Streak purchased through Rogers that needs the user to do the update to 2.2? The Streak purchased from Dell already has 2.2 out of the box, correct?

Yup. Streak purchased directly from dell has and/or upgradeable to 2.2.
