Sprint doesn't have "Droid" phones, only VZW does.

The Optimus S is supposed to go on sale October 31.

    Specs here: http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/LG-O...ne-p_4963.html

you can check pretty much any of the tech blogs and it is all over the place.

basics will be android 2.2, 3.2 camera, 3.2in screen, 600mhz processor and Sprint ID. will be 50 after MIR.

phandroid seems to like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LXkI6BjpgE

If phonearena.com's listing is correct, then I tend to think that as a evdo rev. 0 phone, it's too slow to be worth any consideration unless it maybe had some sort of incredible battery life or printed money......

Phone Arena has been known to make an error with the details every now and then. I'd wait a couple of more weeks until getting into too much of a tizzy.

Nope this ain't a "Droid" phone. It's an Android phone. "Droid" is just a marketing bit that VZW paid George Lucas (of Star Wars fame in case you didn't know) a ton of money to use. That every lay person loves to call any and every Android phone a "Droid" simply illustrates the effectiveness of that marketing. All of the major carriers have Android phones. Only VZW can call theirs "Droids", but in terms of functionality, it means nothing.

Don't forget Verizon also has non Droid Android phones, but you need to love Bing to use them.

I think wonder if the Optimus will be better than the Zio? The reviews I've seen have the same question. Stating it can't possibly be worse.

Verizon paid Lucasfilm LTD for the right to use the word ("Droid" is licensed to Lucasfilm LTD).

Yeah basically. However, they don't do anything that other Android phones can't do. It's just a marketing ploy. And a mighty effective one at that...

Just as a notice to the above poster:

The LG Optimus S is a Rev.A device, not CDMA Rev.0.

Anyone know what the full price of the phone is? I have a SERO plan that is out of contract but I don't know if this is worth signing up for another 2 years in case something better comes along - including Windows Phone 7.

Sprint is not exactly proud of the Optimus, eh? It's 10/31 and it's not on the Website yet and no announcements on the homepage. I haven't checked the stores today to see if they're carrying it yet. It's also strange that there are a few full reviews of the Optimus T for T-Mobile and that doesn't come out for another week or so but I can't find any similar ones for the Sprint version. I'd also like to see a review that shows how the phone performs instead of how Sprint ID works!
