    i just bought this phone and absolutely LOVE IT! I switched from the old msgm8. I had switched to Virgin Mobile for the Rumor Touch thinking it was a better deal. I was wrong. The phone was crap and the unlimited was way more. Anyway I was surprised on how responsive the touch screen was and all the things I could do on it. The only thing that is wrong is that I can receive txt messages but I can't send them out. My old phone still works too but I can't send txts on that phone either. I think they just didn't change it over right. I'm sure it will be fixed in the morning. But all in all I love the phone. When I saw it I was wondering what the difference in the phones were other than the $100. The guy told me the only difference was the Zio's battery lasts an hour and half longer and you can have up to 32 GB of memory instead of the Ascend's 16 GB but it's so much like the iphone it's scary. It's $150 for the phone $200 if you want the car charger and bluetooth or other accessory. You can't beat the price of the phone and unlimited everything for only $55 or $42 with the LifeLine discount. No one other than boost can get that discount in the Portland area. This is a great deal and I couldn't be happier about my purchase

    @misunderstood. WOW

    That was my initial reaction! I work for a premium dealer so I was first in line (haha) and I have had no problems with the phone thus far. Android 2.1 works effortlessly on the device even with the 600MHz processor. I was actually surprised on how fast the 3G connection is especially when streaming video and web pages online. I can access everything without lag at all. The phone is also flash capable and will have the update for 2.2 I am sure in the near future.

    The downside....NO ACCESSORIES..YET!

    I am waiting for some cases and screen protectors. With all smartphones, the smudges and smears of death will always attack this phone. Check out the screenshot in my next post! It's getting some usage already. (Notice I custom made the screen protector (temporary) from an iPhone one haha) take that apple. All for $55/month.

    The added bonus is the 2GBmicroSD, that was the biggest shocker ever.

    NOTE:
    According to Cricket here is the following comparison on battery life

    Kyocera Zio Ascend: 312 hours

    Huawei Ascend: 300 hours

    *I have done 2 tests already and discovered the Zio passed out first! Both phones were maxed out to the highest settings, screen brightness, data connectivity, etc.) The Huawei Ascend shut off 20 minutes thereafter. I am currently doing another test where both phones are set to the minimum setting to maximize battery life. In my years of mobile experience, always purchase a backup battery! But Huawei wins this round in my book.

    MicroSD slot supports up to 16GB. This can roughly hold about...

    1,000 pictures
    4,000 songs
    That should be enough right?

    Thanks for posting all of the pictures.

    Does it support multi-touch? Can you go on Google Maps and then zoom in and out with two fingers?

    @avenue

    Your very welcome for the photos! I think I have taken more pictures of this phone than people I hang out with lol. Answering your question about Multi-Touch Support. Currently the stock Android 2.1 does not support Multi Touch as this point, but every cell phone provider/company have answered these questions with over-the-air network updates. I am certain it will have multi-touch support in the near future, especially once they release the update to Android 2.2! The pinch-to-zoom feature is just plain fun to do when your bored! On that note, here is a list I compiled of Android 2.1 well known and distinct features:

    Android 2.1

    1. Voice controls - Being able to control your phone via voice is at the top of anyone's list (especially with these new cell phone laws passing) send Tweets, SMS messages, and emails just by telling your phone what you want to say. Great success.

    2. Google Earth - The Google Earth app for Android launched hand in hand with 2.1, and it's definitely impressive. There is also a new "fly" mode where you can float in the air. Ah google, what haven't you thought of.

    3. Phonebook - The phonebook on Android 2.1 devices will automatically pull in contacts from multiple sources including Facebook, and the Ascend has a customized UI to give it a much easier look and design.

    4. Email - Android 2.1 will bring with it the ability to have more than one Gmail account working from the same inbox. This means if you have two Gmail accounts, you can get them both feeding one inbox, rather than having to set up separate accounts.

    5. Weather App - The new weather app as featured on Android 2.1 will include dynamic weather updates that use GPS to give minute-by-minute accounts of the temperature, humidity and weather conditions in your current location. (This is my favorite widget because it looks real nice on the Ascend and is very fast on updating)

    6. Interactive wallpapers (Live Wallpaper) - Although this will consume 2-4% of your battery, it will make Android devices look prettier. Animated wallpapers are onboard and you can interact with them too. For example, if you have an animated wallpaper featuring water, you can press the screen and ripples will appear.

    7. Homescreens - Android 2.1 will comes with 5 homescreens but with the Huawei Ascend's UI, there are up to 7 total! There are in a grid pattern allowing you to move up,down,left and right with the swipe of your finger. The extra homescreens can help unclutter and create shortcuts and Widgets customized to your preference.

    8. Photo gallery - A new photo gallery feature brings a new way of viewing your pics to Android. Google took some of the functionality from COOLIRIS, allowing you to seamlessly browse your photos on a 3D wall. Albums are clustered by time, date and location too, so your gallery will be perfectly ordered. Note: I took a photo with the Ascend, and there was no delay! Its just point, snap, and shoot!)

    9. App Launcher - Android's App Launcher has been revamped so you no longer have to drag and pull to get to the app menu. Simply tap a button and everything smoothly zooms into place.Then you're presented with an almost-kinda-sorta 3D menu that fades into the distance like the opening story text from Star Wars.

    10. Firmware upgrade - Android is Operating System, so further down the road there are endless possibilities! The phone is fully capable of upgrading to the latest Android 2.2 and can't wait to see the update!

    Random Photo Time! Full charge time was about 8 hours overnight. Running on Day 2 and still have 50% battery life!
