Reading your SIM card is very different than getting the APN correct.

Why don't you tell us exactly what is and is not working, and what error messages or symbols you are seeing.

What phones can do 3G on WFM? From what I understand, any Tmobile smart phone can. However, what about unlocked smart phones for other carriers? I now know that ATT Iphones can't receive 3G with WFM.

Reason I'm asking is because I'm planning on picking up an used android smartphone and am wondering if my choices should be restricted to just those that are meant for TMobile. If unlocked smartphones from other carriers will work then that will definitely be a plus as my choices won't be so restricted.

i'm on the old plan $45 + $25 and just got an email stating the free data is extended through 5/31/12. good to see wfm appreciates their older loyal customers.

So is there any way to PAY for additional 3G Data after you use up the 250MB? That amount of data is used in my family in one day. Id be willing to pay for more fast data if I could.

    I saw new rates:
    https://www.myfamilymobile.com/Suppo...type=RATEPLANS
Looks like by default you have 250mb shared but can boost it on folowing rates:
    1GB Speed Boost for $10/month
    3GB Speed Boost for $20/month
    8GB Speed Boost for $40/month

So yeah while it's not good as unlimited for free promotion going for old plan. It's still considerable. And comparing to tmo owns plans still a winner for family. Only question is: what are the fees and taxes? is like regular post paid, so I'll get about 20% (a little less in CA)?

Edit: looks like they charge all that stuff so ~20% on top is not so good as prepaid ... Only advantage vs Value plan is no contract and shared data so you may use little less and save something... But for 2 80 + 20 (for shared 3Gb) vs 99.98 (2gb for each line)...

It seems then that for me I should just switch to monthly 4g. They seem to throttle you at about 900kbps, which isnt bad, but when you know your phone is cabable of more.......

900kbps after 250mb? That;s not bad at all!!! Simple mobile throttle all the time at 119kbps ... so it's good

I think its 900kbs all the time. I've never seen anything over about 925 on my g2x...even in hspa areas. I wish we knew what the actual throttle was set at. If it is 900 I'm happy. If its edge...I'll be getting a sim from straight talk.

That's really strange. Went again though their support web side and it's written there that:
The Unlimited Talk, Text & Web plan includes unlimited web access for all lines on the account, and up to 250MB of shared Speed Boost each month. This means the first 250MB of data used each month by all users on the account is delivered at 3G speeds. Once the Speed Boost has been used up, web speeds are reduced to 2G speeds.
Will see. Looks like that ST is winner considering 2Gb threshold and small taxes in CA ... I asked before but can someone tell how much are taxes and fees in real in CA?

I'm told taxes are moot and avoidable if you use an address of a state that charges no taxes for paying for your ST bill.

is tmobile ever going to allow wfm customers to have wifi calling? it's weird, in my house in the exact same location sometimes i have 4 bars and crystal clear signal and sometimes 0 bars and constant dropped calls.

this would benefit tmobile to get a lot of traffic off their network.
