So how well does Walmart Family mobile work? I'm thinking about getting 2 Nexus One phones off eBay and the SIM kit. The only issue is that T-Mobile's network isn't as good as AT&T or Verizon.

We happen to have an awesome US Congressman, Mike Thompson (CA 1st District) , he is far from a "weasel" I can assure you

Anyone tried this yet? Would love to switch but UMA is a deal breaker for me.

UMA does not work on FamilyMobile. It is a no go on my nokia e73. I would assume that it would the same on other UMA phones.

    Good luck.

That would work just fine. You would need the activation kit only and then call in to activate the phone. I used the same imei for all my accounts. They ask for one but I guess they don't care as long as they have a valid imei.

    Good luck.

    MMS settings are the following:
    APN: web.omwtoday.com
    username: blank
    password: blank
    Authentication: normal
    MMSC: http://wirelessfour.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
    proxy server address: 216.155.165.50
    proxy server port: 8080
I have found with some phones you don't need the proxy settings for MMS or WAP.

    Good luck.

Has anyone tried porting numbers from TMO to FM? I just called & the rep at FM said 24 to 48 hours, this is way too long for me cause our cells are the only phones we have. Does anyone know if it really takes this long to port numbers?
    Thanks

WM will provide you with a temporary number and your T-Mobile number still works until the port is completed.

Thanks fo the reply. One more thing, do I have to have 2 phones? One for the WM sim & one for the TM sim till the port is complete? I'm not buying a WM phone since mine is unlocked.
I'm asking here cause when I called CC I had a really hard time understanding the rep.

No you don't need two phones.

Just get the $35 "activation kit" that includes the SIM cards. Any unlocked GSM or T-Mobile handset will work (AWS for 3G)

So after fighting with a Walmart employee today (she insisted I would not be able to use an unlocked GSM phone), I bought an activation kit.

I'm testing this plan with Curve 8900. I know there is no BIS. Does anyone know if I can still use GPRS/EDGE? What settings would I need to change?

So far, this plan is working out pretty nicely. Does anyone know any apps for email (or other things like IM) that can be used with regular data/wifi? How much data, on average, does the Gmail app use daily? (based on 5-10 emails per day, each consisting of a couple paragraphs - no images)

    Thanks!

Does Walmart Family Mobile support HSPA+ / 4G on phones like the G2?

    Thanks in advance!
