    Tmoble Prepaid phone

    Hello

Just a quick question. Would any new prepaid t moble phone work on wfm? I'm a little confused if a new prepaid phone would need to be unlocked.

    Thanks
    Jer

I have a feeling that this might go away in the future. I am sure AT&T won't like WFM.

Maybe it will stay. Who knows.

I'm concerned about it. But really what can I do? I really like the WFM plan. It works for me and my family. So I really hope that ATT Mobility will grandfather us in.

WFM isn't simply a T-Mobile thing; it has the power of WalMart behind it. I don't think WalMart is going to let a service like that go away without at least checking out other carriers, if the original one happens to disappear (or the buyer doesn't want to participate any longer).

yeah, but will it be (most importantly) GSM and secondly, the same price? GSM is most important. its the deciding factor.

I would hope that Walmart has its rights to WFM locked down in a long-term contract that AT&T would have to honor. I would not expect it to go away anytime soon. In fact, I suspect that a lot of T-Mobile users from HoFo may jump to WFM to escape new AT&T policies. But Walmart is a behemoth. Other MVNOs may not be so lucky. But in order to approve the deal, the Justice Department will likely require AT&T agree to allow them to continue in business without dramatic price hikes for some period of time. I'd still put my money on Walmart first, though.

I have to agree, the large MVNOs led by Walmart and America Movil will definitely push for conditions that allow them to continue to operate.

What a great thread! I'm glad I found it. I had a couple questions about using an iphone 4 on WFM, which looks both possible and an incredible bargain.

    1. Where are people buying theirs? It seems like getting it from a Canadian carrier (Telus, Rogers) is the best and most cost effective way to get an unlocked iphone 4.

    2. What measures need to be taken to utilize it fully? Obviously I know you have to buy the activation kit. Do you have to trim the SIM card (I saw a comment about this). I also saw the settings that had to be changed to use MMS correctly. Anything else anyone has had to change?

    3. Overall have people been happy with coverage? I'm going to be jumping ship from Sprint and living in Cleveland if that makes a difference.

I really appreciate any advice you could give me. I just don't want to spend the $600-$800 for the phone and then find out I can't use the features I want. I'm suprised by what a good deal the family plan is. For me and my wife together it would be $70 + only $10 for 200 MB of data!

    Thanks!!

    Hi,
I'm really sorry but I don't understand about coverage: is it the same as postpaid TMo or prepaid?
Is Wifi Calling working here too?

Supposedly postpaid, but prepaid and postpaid coverage are 99% the same minus international roaming
Wifi calling does not work according to several reports

    Just to clarify.
By postpaid I meant that it will roam to whatever available for Tmo customers in that area.
Like in Grand Canyon Village where Tmo map shows partner network for example.
Will I have service there on both?

Is there any advantages with this plan comparing to "Value" from Tmo (except signing a contract)? Just checked Tmo Value and it seems I can get Unlimited TT + Data 200mb for both lines (with down to 2g after) for 90.
    Thank you for information.
