I apologize if I'm going to suggest something you've already double-checked.

    - did you download your LG driver for the Octane from the website below ?
    http://vzam.net/download/supported.aspx

    - did you double/triple check that you downloaded the driver for the correct brand and model ?

    - did you double/triple check that the driver you downloaded is for the correct operating system ?

I spent a few seconds googling "device manager code 10", and this sounded to me like a the key issue or perhaps sole issue that will prevent you from moving forward. We have two different models of LG phones, and the LG driver that we downloaded from that website didn't give our computer any problems. So that's why I'm hoping that there might be a very simple issue (like what I mentioned in my suggestions) that is causing the issue.

In the meantime if you have a memory card reader for your microsd card, you can circumvent this problem until you find a solution for this code 10 problem.

    New software update v8

I noticed my Octane automatically updating its software this AM. Checked afterward, I'm now at version 8. Any idea what this fixes?

Did a little research on the LG corporate forum. I was able to answer my own question.

    Version ZV8 is released.

A new update has just been released for the VN530 - Octane. The update is being sent out via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) which simply means that it should be sent to your phone without your intervention... Expect to see it any day now. A couple of the issues addressed are:

•Potential SMS errors caused by the Texting DB and the RAM Data
•When messaging, sometimes the From Address is different from the actual sender. Replying to a message might cause it to be sent to the wrong Contact.
•Sometimes one or more messages are not visible in the list.
•Preloaded graphics (Emoticons) could cause rebooting issue.

Octane w/ vers 8 software burning through battery

I posted 5 days ago about Octane software upgrade to version 8. Prior to this I was on version 5. I usually got 7 - 10 days of battery life between charges with light use. Since the upgrade I get 2 days between charges (I've had to charge twice since the upgrade 5 days ago, and I'll need to charge again tonight). Any ideas?

    lg4400:

    two ideas

On our LG vx8370 which uses ##program8370, sometimes I accidentally use one pound sign instead of two pound signs. One pound sign results in the phone dialing instead of asking for the 0's

Second idea. On the previous page of this thread, one of the people here initially couldn't access the programming menu. It turns out the Octane appears to require an individual to use the interior keys instead of the exterior keys when typing that special code to access the programming menu.

Also, when dialing *228 to program the phone, *228 still allows a customer to select option '3' to program the phone even though the automated system only mentions options '1' and '2'. My experience is that option '3' usually preserves the forced '1x' status on our non-smartphone LG and Samsung phones.

Are you pressing the send key only after typing this entire string ##5473784236368 ? Since I don't have an Octane, the only other idea I can think of is to have both Octanes in front of you, try the code on both phones, and then look for any subtle or overt differences to explain why it's working on one but not the other. Maybe of your Octanes received a software update that the other one didn't that is either enabling or preventing being able to access the programming menu ? There was a member on here who tried everything but was still unable to access the programming menu. He received a suggestion to google LG phone hacks for instructional youtube videos such as this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBWe4RZA4Pk
Maybe you might be able to see something in the video that you're not doing.

It looks like a mini laptop. Maybe it is just a bad photo. Didn't LG have a similar phone 3 years ago?
