    App World requiring login now

Why does the newer version of App World require a login whenever I want to download or update an app? It's annoying to have to minimize App World, go into Password Manager, copy my password and return to App World.

If RIM is going to require login to use App World, they could at least make the program automatically fill the login info, or just keep me logged in unless I log myself out.

It seemed very annoying until I switched devices, logged in and it asked me which of my previously downloaded apps I would like to install on my new device. It was a huge time saver vs installing each app individually.

I think you used to be able to use it to keep track of your installed apps after switching devices without the ID and password, unless I'm remembering incorrectly.

I really just wish App World would save the login info so it doesn't have to be entered manually each time.

I don't mind the password; what I hate is the $1,000 pre-authorization that it permanently held on my PayPal account which is now mandatory. I quickly cancelled this, but now I can't purchase apps from AppWorld. And I find more and more developers are only making them available on AppWorld.

$1,000 pre-authorization? You mean RIM takes $1,000 out of our PayPal accounts if we want to buy stuff on App World? I don't even have $1 in my account, never mind $1,000!

I don't know exactly how it worked. I don't have money in my PayPal account either, but I saw some sort of a $1,000 pre-auth sitting there in my PayPal account. Maybe they held it on my credit card or something. Either way it was a litte nerve-wracking. There's no way I'm pledging $1,000 so I can purchase a $2.99 app every few months.

If it comes to that, I just won't use App World anymore.

I use it for free apps only now. It's unfortunate because more and more developers have App World as the only option.

I don't think you were reading it right. It seems more of a $1,000 maximum of what App World will allow you to buy before PayPal starts denying. But I could be totally wrong. I've seen amounts like these on other subscription based services.

You could be right. I just saw $1,000, got scared, and cancelled it. Now I can't purchase any apps off App World.

I've purchased 1 program from the Blackberry App World using PayPal and I didn't notice any $1000 charge or hold on my PayPal account. My PayPal account is linked to my credit card (no bank account) and it has been a few months since I purchased the program and all I've ever seen on my credit card statement was the charge for the application $5.99.
