I'm with Frank. It's not "perfect" but it's a reasonable solution for me...since the alternative is no service at my home.
I still think the pricing of the unit and the way it eats your minutes is flawed, but what reasonable alternative is there??

I've had the 1x since it came out and the 3G since it first came out. My Internet service is 99.99 percent. Basically, my results with both NEs is that they are very reliable. But, occasionally, they do have hiccups. I think this is because there are so many variables.
-VZW doing OTA updates
-GPS losing lock the re-establishing
-VZW Servers doing strange things, like all Internet servers do occasionally (you need only stick around HoFo a while, using their servers, to see that
-Handset oddities with recognizing and acquiring RF signal
-Unexpected results due to strong native tower signal strength (less native signal is better for consistent NE performance).
-All the "standard" cellular technology oddities added to the NE/ISP performance.
Having said all that.... I couldn't live without mine. I guess I've been on a NE of some sort for a couple of years now and I think the total number of days it was not usable might total 2 or 3 over all that time. Not bad.
I am in an area where I get 0-1 (fluctuating) bars of native service. Basically, just enough to piss me off
The NE has been a life saver. Before the NE, I had a Wireless Repeater setup (still do - left it on). The NE is much better.

Im deff having some issues on my 3g
on hold with vw. Again. just got my network extender today. Couple of questions. 1. Did anyone have to call in to VW to activate their extender? 2. I have a constant red light on SYS and WAN. Is this due to not being activated?
The instructions (or something I read) said that it should be automatically (or already) activated. That was true for mine. I didn't need to do anything except plug it in, and wait about an hour for 4 blues.
Your WAN light should be blue. That shouldn't take very long at all - 5 minutes maybe at most. That shows a connection to your network, and the fact that it was able to pick up an IP address automatically. If the WAN light doesn't go blue, I don't see how you'll ever get a blue SYS light. And you need a blue SYS light 'cuz that's the connection to VZW's network.
I'd have a look at your own network first. Maybe plug a PC into the same place you're plugging in the NE and see if the PC gets an address. Check if the PC has Internet access. Also, if you look on-line at VZW I think it will tell you what firewall ports have to be open. Although, that is rarely a problem.

Look here for a [VZW Coverage Map] to check your area. Select 4G before hitting [Refresh Map]
Just to confirm. Verizon Iphone will activate and update on the 3g. I know I had to go to native coverage to activate any of my droids. Network speeds are about the same also.
That is good to know about the 3g network extender. Using the old network extender, I was not able to activate one of my iPhones. I had to power off the extender and activate with the very weak signal at my house. The good news is that they work great with the old extender.
I live in an Extended Network ZIP. I just got my Network Extender. Everything is blue except sys light. GPS, WAN are solid blue. Do I need to be physically in a Verizon Coverage zone? That wouldn't make sense, as the whole point to expand coverage to where you dont get it at the house. I am about 10 minutes outside the coverage area.
It's not always about physical (i.e. technical) coverage. Sometimes it is about licensed coverage area for VZW. If I were you I'd give 'em a call. How did you get the NE? I think if you purchased it from VZW and had it added to your account, normally, they would not have sold it to you unless it was authorized to work in your listed account location.

I bought it from my Verizon Wireless store that I buy from. They mailed it to me, and it shows in MyVerizon as being part of the account.
I will call Verizon today.
Did you ever get that user name and password? I am still looking. Want to tweek the power.
