The berry sub-sub-sub forum seems dead... So I'll ask a question :)

    Hello all,

I have made up my mind that I'm going to get either a Curve 9330 or a Bold 9650. I am very familiar with the difference spec wise between the two devices. However, when I went to verizon to play with them, I was kind of limited with the bold due to the trackpad being dead. I did get to see how the trackpad leans, however. The main thing I wanted to play with was typing a bit on the keyboards as I already know just by looking at them that I like the curve's better. From the vids I've seen, even with the low res screen, the curve shows videos just fine. So, on to my question...

I can get the bold for about $20-30 more than a curve. If it wasn't a necessity to have the upgraded camera and you don't need alot of apps (I generally get some sort of the same version of the same apps on my smartphones), would the upgrade be worth it, really? Let's hear you all's opinions.

Just for further info, the only apps I would download would be:

    • Facebook, even though it's not the best on a berry from what I hear.
    • A notepad type organization app
    • YouTube if it's not pre-installed (yes it is for entertainment, but I also use it when troubleshooting something I'm not familiar with)
    • Pandora
    • It would be nice to have a crossword puzzle app if there's one available to kill downtime
    • Google voice
    • A news app
    • Podcast possibly. I haven't gotten into listening to podcasts as of yet, but it's tempting to try out.

Bigger screen, better screen resolution, and a better camera? I would go with the Bold 9650. I found it to be a really nice device when I reviewed it. It's a no brainer for me which I would choose.

Another suggestion for the 9650. It has a better display and runs EV-DO Rev A. The Curve runs the the slower EV-DO Rel 0.

The Curve 3G 9330 is Rev-A and has the same RAM and processor as the 9650. The only real differences are the camera and screen resolutions.

Not saying I don't believe you, but PhoneScoop says it's Rel 0. http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=2930 Is that inaccurate?

Regardless for only a $20-30 more the Bold is worth it. 320x240 vs. 480x360 makes a big difference.
