Droid X Cannot Download Apps from App Market/sign in to Google Talk
Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so moderators please move it if necessary.
I recently bought a Motorola Droid X from Craigslist and activated it on Pageplus. Everything seems to be working fine. However, when I'm connected to my campus WiFi, I cannot download any apps from the App Market nor can I sign into Google Talk. It just says "starting download" but it never actually downloads. Furthermore, I can't download the 2.2 update. Before my 50MB limit from Pageplus was up, I was lucky and was able to download Google Voice and Facebook, but that's all I've been able to download so far.
There are two ways to connect to wifi at my school: 1. Not Secure (requires me to login with a username and password similar to what you would do at a hotel 2. Secure, which I don't believe our IT department supports since it requires special software (only available to iPhone/iPod) to download.
Does anyone have any advice? I can still access the web through the browser, use the FB app, and send emails, but the App Market/Google Talk/updating firmware simply won't work wile connected to my school's wi-fi. Thanks!

I'm not sure, but I suspect you're not logged in to your Google account on the phone. I suspect the phone is still associated and logged in to the previous owner. In that sense, the phone's contents are still "owned" by the previous owner because all the sign ins are still associated with his Google account.
You may have to clear reset the phone completely, bringing the phone to a clean state. You must have a Google account, basically your GMail account, and login with it. If you don't have one, make one, its free. Hard way but its the best way. From then on, everything is owned and associated to your Google account. If you bought another Android phone after this, login with your Google account automatically transfers all your contacts and calendar to the new one, and apps you paid before is free to download on the new phone.
Thanks for the reply. I actually already did a hard reset. When I go to a different Wifi network (i.e. Starbucks, hotels, and anywhere else that's not on campus), I can connect to the App Market and download apps just fine. It's only when I use wifi on-campus. I suspect it has something to do with the school's firewall or something since it's fine in other places.
