what is REALLY going to be interesting is what will be coming down the pipeline in maybe 6-12...

You see, Verizon is starting to roll out their 4G LTE network and HTC has already stated that mid-2011 there will be 4G phones (http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/11/h...th-a-fancy-4g/) and Telus (and Bell) has been testing out their dual-cell LTE network as well (http://mobilesyrup.com/2010/12/14/te...ology-in-2011/)...

There is a distinct possibility that in 12 months we will looking at phones on a LTE network in Canada!

Might the desire HD be a drop in the proverbial "amazing upcoming smartphone" bucket???

You seem to be thinking that the world gets their phones Years ahead of Canada, when the reality is that is only a matter of months in most cases.

And yes.. This phone is going to pretty Sick and will be in the discussion of the best phones avalible for sale in early 2011.
Its just an EVO without 4g, which was out in june.

Its like saying Milestone 2 just came out and is a new new phone.

It be nice if Telus got the Motorola Olympus that at&t will get maybe a month or two after, that'd be impressive. Its not CDMA so there shoulden't be waiting but....

Sure, its similar to the Evo (both being Android, 4.3"), but the Desire HD technically was released in October as 900/2100 3G model, and at that time Telus was already testing an 850/1900 3G version of it.. Really not too far behind in my opinion.

Technically HSPA+ is 4G. As stated by the ITU.

They Dual Cell Network that Bell and TELUS are launching is based off the HSAP+ network not LTE. Both carriers are panning LTE, but we won't see LTE for at least 2 years I think

The Dual Cell Network is Live for Bell (Air Cards), and pretty close for TELUS.

Bell decided to launch dual-cell with a single-band 800MHz modem. Telus is waiting for dual-band versions that will work across the entire footprint.

Any idea what this might cost? I'm considering getting this at full cost.

The Evo goes for $450 at Sprint, and most smartphones are about $450 to $530 in Canada.

So i figure it will be similar, right?

That would be a good price for this phone. I'm guessing in the low to mid $500s, maybe $549.

I wonder how long after a phone goes through the FCC for approval that it becomes available?

I'm curious, how many apps do you have installed?

And how many of those you actually use day to day or more frequently?

i have about 75 downloaded apps, but that includes widgets, live wallpapers, etc. i probably use around 25 daily/frequently. but the rest are there for a reason, why i need them, i want them to be there. its silly that a phone like the desire came with such little installation room, if i hadn't done the move the sd hack i would have ran out of room ages ago. just downloading google maps 5, firefox, vlingo, documents to go, and rockplayer would have eaten up all my installation space. if it wasn't for that i'd keep this phone for a very long time, but i'll be upgrading as soon as htc releases another 3.7-4" with hard buttons.

Unfortunately even setting the phone to move apps to SD card doesn't always works as the app has to support this. As apps get updated they should be able to be moved and therefor free up space.

lucky you I think that I'll do the modification so I can move all app to my SDcard... cause right now Google maps, facebook and twitter or killing me... and I have lest the 20 apps. So every time that someone his hey download this... I'm like "ok what can I delete so I can install this app"
