My father let his friend mess around with his iphone 4. The guy must have tried to log into my father's app store to show him stuff, but probably got locked out because neither knew the password and he tried to guess it too many times. I can think of no other explanation for why he's locked out since he does not know anything about technology, and only uses it for the simplest tasks. Does anyone know what I can do to log back into the app store?
Only the user name is stored in the phone. The password must be entered each time. How can anyone in this forum judge the legitimacy of your statement? How can the user of a phone not know his own password? One does not need a password to look at applications. One is only asked for the password when making a purchase or downloading free Apps. Have your father go to an Apple Store for assistance.

I have no idea why you bothered replying since I already edited my first post by saying I fixed it.
Maybe so somebody else down the road who searches the forum for your same problem can get a little more information than, "Edit: Fixed"?
What would have been really nice is that you had described the steps taken to fix your problem; this post could have actually helped someone down the road, since you bothered taking the time to create the thread in the first place...

When did you add the additional information? It was not there when I began my reply. When you edit a post, the forum software shows the time. If you fixed the problem before submitting the message, the message was superfluous.

I edited it less than an hour after my post. You posted 6 hours after I did. Are you telling me it took you 6 hours to post a reply?
They have been having problems with the forums because of Denial of Service attacks. Perhaps the thread had not updated because I went to bed while my computer was still in the forums.
To evaluate the response here, you also need to understand that every forum I've been a member of and several that I moderated have at times been visited by dishonest people who tell a very similar story ("My brother changed the password on my ____ and forgot it and now I need help getting it to work again.") Nine times out of 10 it's a thief.
