So now what? I just changed my NW FSP last week to take advantage of the tiered data pricing ($15/150MB) but now it appears as if this new plan will actually be less expensive for me despite the fact that it includes unlimited data:

My current (1400 min. NW) FSP:
    5 lines.............$150 ($120 + 3 add'l lines @ $10/line)
    150MB data......$75 (5 lines x $15)
    TOTAL: $225/mo

Promotional plan (obviously the subject of this thread):
    5 lines..............$200 ($140 + 3 add'l lines @ $20/line; 1400 min FSP w/unlimited data)
    TOTAL: $200/mo

Am I missing something here or do I need to call C/S (yet again) and switch into this new plan? I mean, pardon me but, to be blunt, WTF is VZW doing? First, they offer tiered-data to accommodate "light" (or lighter) users, effectively saving them money. Now, not more than a week later, they concoct another promotion which, from all appearances, renders it virtually ridiculous for many (most?) users to select the 150MB/mo option. Please let me know if my math skills need remediation.

Just got back from a Verizon store. I had other business there, but I showed them this flier. They were doubtful it was real, but they called in to regular care since certain offices are closed Sunday. Indeed whoever the store reps spoke to confirmed its existence. They said they can do nothing to add it though and to have me call the number tomorrow to see if I qualify. Guess I will report back tomorrow then!

It's not actually a plan. They do it by giving a $20 discount on data, so it's really the following:

    450 min + unlimited text = $59.99
    Unlimited data = $29.99 - $20 discount

It looks like this plan is being offered all around Michigan, but not in Michigan at this time.

    Very interesting.

Since this is not actually, 'A Plan' does it expire after 12 months? Makes me wonder if there will be all sorts of new plans and one may not get back to what they had.....at least data wise.

I just did it, I was told the discount was only good for one year. Might have been posted, but missed it, I was told this also includes 5 Friends & Family numbers too.

    I'm in NJ.

Update: Tried to setup the Friends & Family online but no luck yet, maybe the CSR was not fully aware of the full offering. I will give it a try later to see if it does work.

I'm in NY, just north of NYC. Just added it, and my two smartphone lines now show a $20 data discount. However, the three other lines in the family share plane which were on regular feature phone lines and were on PPU data still stayed on PPU. I needed to switch in My Verizon to unlimited data, however, it shows at the $29.99 price and doesn't mention the data discount. I suppose it will take a day or so in order for the discount to appear? I still haven't removed the data blocks on those lines yet.

BTW, the person I spoke with mentioned that the promotion requires a one year contract extension (since my "oldest" line hit the one year mark two days ago, it technically only extended my contract by 2 days) and so long as I have the promotion, it will be grandfathered so the discount will not go away after a year.

FYI, all the promotion does is add a discount code to your account that discounts unlimited data by $20 per month. So you would get the same Friends and Family numbers that the regular 1400 minute plans gets, which is 10 numbers.

Nobody told me that it was only good for a year - I was only told that it required a year contract extension. Can anyone confirm whether this discount is temporary and expires after one year or not?

I just called back and spoke with a customer service rep who was real knowledgeable on the promotion. She said that the promotion requires all line (for a family share plan) to have unlimited data. And (for the family share plan) it also requires you to have the 1400 talk & text family share plan at the minimum. As long as you meet the minimum requirements, you will then get the data discount. If you drop below the 1400 minutes, you lose the data discount on all lines. If you have even just one of the phones on the family share plan drop unlimited data, then you will lose the data discount on all lines. If you have even just one line drop unlimited text, then you will lose the data discount on all lines.

My kids will be happy that they can now use data on their phones, although now they will have to wait another 16 months before they can upgrade their phone to Droid phones.

I was told that so long as you continue to meet the requirements (minimum 1400 minute family share or 450 minute individual, have unlimited text, and have unlimited data), you will get the $20 discount, even if it is no longer offered, because you will be grandfathered in.
