    Wifi calling on Prepaid

Can anyone confirm if the WIFI calling is working on a prepaid account?
“A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover
that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.
From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates
who promise the most benefits from the public treasury,
with the result that every democracy will finally collapse
due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship”

It works on my Sam Katalyst with prepaid SIM. I've made calls using it with minutes deducted at my regular per minute rate.
I set the phone to "airplane mode" to be sure wifi is the signal the phone is working off of.

Looking forward to trying it out during an upcoming trip to Mexico to save international roaming charges.

I thought the Mytouch 4G was the only phone with WIFI calling at this point? I guess you're talking about UMA?

I'm not sure I know what "UMA" is - I deal strictly in dumb phones. I bought the Katalyst off CraigsList not knowing anything about WIFI. I did a bit of research and drove to the parking lot of my local Starbucks, set the phone to "airplane mode" and hit the wifi button, it found the Starbucks signal and connected. I made a test call to another phone I had with me in the car and talked to myself for a little while. I've since made several calls with it. If a signal is available and a password is not required it connects. The call quality is crisp and clear.

You'll need responses from HoFo geeks if you need more info.

Wifi calling will work with prepaid for sure (use your debit).
I have 6301 (with native UMA, hardware-based wifi calling) and it just works.

the MT4G's wifi calling is actually a dumbed-down version of UMA, in that there's no handoff btw wifi-cellular and cellular-wifi, which UMA does seamlessly. and yes, the MT4g is one of the first androids phones to have it, but again, UMA has been around for 3-4 years in all the latest tmobile blackberries, samsung t339, t739, and a few 3 year old nokias... you'll just never hear TMO advertising it as they don't want people thinking their cellular coverage is inadequate.

when traveling with UMA, it is better to turn off cellular signal alltogether like 25jive1 did above, so the wifi call does not "accidentally" jump into the foreign cellular tower and incur the $5/min roaming. but your MT4g will not have that problem. read more in this HoFo UMA forum:

The G2 is also has Wi-Fi calling. Its the same dumbed down UMA support as the MT4G.

UMA/Wifi is the only way my BB Javelin will work from my home! UMA is the main reason I went with TMO. I live in a cell dead zone and need WiFi.

Your minutes will be deducted in the same way, whether you use UMA or plain old GSM. I can confirm that UMA works reasonably well on prepaid (I have two Samsung T409s), and is the one and only way to get T-Mobile service in countries where there is no roaming.

yeah! Used it extensively to call back to the USA when I was in Montego Bay, Jamaica. in April. The resort had free WiFi, so it came in very handy.

WiFi calling/text/web all work fine on my BB Curve 8320. I'm on the $30 monthly prepaid.
