    Milestone Random Reboots

My Motorola Milestone reboots randomly, and it's a little frustrating. I tried searching the forum but haven't found much at all. It happens mostly after I slide the keyboard closed after sending a text message, etc. I recently did a factory restore and it seemed to help a bit as it is not rebooting as frequently, but didn't completely resolve the issue. All my updates are current! Is this a hardware problem? Please help!

I'm pretty sure it is the software build. I have the issue on both of my Milestones and they have different apps running on them. Should be hopefully fixed with the update in Q1 2011

There is a slight possibility that it is a hardware problem. If the problem gets more severe, go have it checked out at Telus.

One thing you can do is try out some stable custom ROMs and see if the issue persists. I recommend Telus Lite V5. You can find it at XDA-Developers.

Thanks guys. I am familiar with ROM's and xda-developers as I've owned many HTC phones, just haven't done much phone tweaking in the past couple years. I will try the ROM you suggested. Thanks again.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; en-ca; Milestone Build/SHOLS_U2_03.11.0) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17)

My phone started doing this lately as well. Didn't really do this before. I wonder if its caused by an update for an app. Once I had a google map update reboot my phone repeatedly until I removed it.

It could very well be. After i did a factory restore it seemed to work fine, and then I reinstalled some apps and now it's doing it again.

i hate this phone, maybe i got a lemon but it's been annoying from day 1. it reboots at least 4 times a week, randomly though. but for the most part when i take it out of sleep (i.e. turning on the display). i'm using launcher pro, so i'm not sure if it's that or just a problem with the phone. i've done a complete wipe of the phone but it didn't help. i don't think it's a rouge app, because when i did a total wipe i had very few apps installed (and they were the tried and trusted ones)...but i did have launcher pro installed though.

the reception is terrible, the screen always turns on when i'm on a call (hanging up the call or doing other random things), the battery is really really bad and the keyboard is the worst. i switched from a bb, so maybe my standards are high...but that phone just worked...this phone just can't stop rebooting.
