Switching BBM Contacts to new phone (More complex than normal situation)

    Hey,

I was wondering if someone could provide some input on this. I've copied my BBM contacts from one phone to another no problem in the past but this situation is a bit different.

Currently I have the 9700 with OS6 on it and BIS. I just received a new phone at work 9300 with OS6 which has BES. Is there anyway of copying JUST the BBM contacts from my 9700 to the 9300 without copying any other info?

My worry is that during the process I will do something to disable the BES on the work phone and cause headaches with our IT department. I've had some 'faux pas' in the past with our IT department about doing stuff on work phones (ie. upgrading OS to unsupported formats without asking first.)

Can some confirm that there is no risk of screwing up my connection with BES if I do a switch on DM?

All I want is to synch my BBM contacts from my old BIS to my new BES phone without any issues.

    Any help would be appreciated

I would backup the contact list to an SD card on the old phone then restore it on the new phone.

Thats probably what i'm going to do. The only issues is that BBM won't sync my new PIN with my current contacts. I will have to add everyone and they will have to delete my old contact.

If you register an email account (that is common to both phones) for remote backup it should do what you want.

You really should talk to the BES Admin and IT staff to make sure what you can and cannot do with the company device. You should also do some research about what the company can and cannot see about your BB use. I never advise mixing personal data with company data on a company supplied and paid for device.

This can get the search started: http://www.port3101.org/port-3101-be...ed-logged.html

I had the same situation, I was on BES and moved my contacts to my personal phone that has BIS.

It worked just fine using the Backup Contact list to SD card, and restoring it on the other phone.

Just make sure when you back it up, then you turn off your old phone then you restore it to your new phone.

    hope this helps.
