It's mentioned in one of the stickies.

From what has been discussed before, you can't.

Bloody 'ell, there's no way to do that. The sticky prohibits it.

Boost is your best bet, since the 8330 is on their lineup and ESN sharing is somewhat allowed.

    Here is an interesting info:

    "Quote from bcm00re :
Can you can activate a VM phone with Sprint?

I emailed Spint and this was their reply:
Thank you for contacting Sprint. I understand you want to use your
    Virgin mobile with Sprint services.

Yes, you can use your Virgin mobile phone with Sprint services. Please
contact Sprint Customer Solutions at 1-888-211-4727. They will assist
you to activate the phone with Sprint services.
So I guess if I end up not liking VM, then at least I can use the newly purchased phone with Sprint."

Now that is some worthwhile info. Too bad it's posted in the wrong thread... That alone needs its own.

But the OP's issue is the other way around and other than maybe roaming and access to some more applications (depending on the phone) I don't see the benefit.

It might be possible to bring Sprint phone to VM because it's obvious this two companies are sharing the same IMEI database.

It was my guess that Virgin Mobile acts as a taste of Sprint, and that maybe Sprint logically sees an upgrade that gives them more profit as a no-brainer. Going the other way around (e.g. allowing a faster data-intensive phone on a prepaid network) may not be so savory for them.

The rule has *always* been that VM has its own database, although there's no doubt Sprint has access to it. The only way to prove otherwise would be to ask Sprint if they can help activate their phones on the Virgin Mobile network.

We have Sprint/VM rep here on forum. May be he could give us some useful info (at least some general lines) about this subject (it's already "leaked" so there is no reason to pretend "it's not possible").

Leaks don't equate to general policy. But the good news is, calling up Sprint and inquiring about the status of using non-VM-branded phones on a VM network should be both legal and okay... hopefully... with the mods.

Not sure if we can switch topics on this post but it might just be worth a call.

Virgin Mobile has yet to allow (according to all threads) Sprint branded handsets.

Barring the obvious, would Sprint take it as a PR move though? I would never recommend doing anything that violates the rules of this forum but if Sprint's policy has changed, this forum's rules may change too.

Then again, though the mods may not be 100% active here, they usually know what the status of the phones are.

I certainly never knew the opposite was true!

Thread closed. As far as VM is concerned, and this is the VM section, no phones outside of those branded by VM are allowed to be used on VM. Whether or not Sprint or any other carrier will allow VM phones to be used is another issue, and belongs in the forum sections for those carriers.
