You are correct, esn/phone changes on the same plan are fine. I have done that many times without incident.

Has anyone else attempted to switch plans in the last month? Any other experiences with keeping Shrinkage going?
In theory, it's supposed to stick with your account, not your plan...but how well does that work?
The Shrinkage sticks with the account.
If you go from $50/Shrinkage to Blackberry ($60)/w Shrinkage it should count just the same.
If you go to PAYGO, I don't think it will stay on hold though. Might have to just call and ask.
"jjtt" so far is the only one in here who has done the change...and it didn't go through. At least that's the impression we have so far--a negative one. I would honestly hope that Boost can look through their computer system and see payment dates and records of consecutive payments and such...
I might just move to the BB plan since my next payment will be $5 off and experiment with it sooner rather than another 6 months from now. It works, cool. Doesn't work, go to Virgin and save $20/mo. Or I might wait till the 9330 comes and get an 8530 cheaper...
Hi ryans,
I hope it works for you, like I stated above, it did not work for me. They told me everything was ok when I switched to the BB, and on schedule, then the next month it started me over on my shrinkage. I tried calling at least 10 times with no solution. They said that they saw it on the computer when I changed but could not change the shrinkage schedule once in motion. The only thing I recieved, is one nice rep gave me a $5 credit to not make me feel so bad. Definately sucks. I hope they changed this issue since then, but I doubt it. Good Luck.
When I switched from the regular unlimited plan to the shrinkage unlimited, it changed my monthly due date to the day I changed plans....and took out another 50, even though I had half a month until my original date. When I called to see what could be done, no one understood what the heck I was talking about, gave me the runaround, and then said they would call me back (and never did). I got a $15 credit out of the deal, but still ate some money in the process. So be warned....![]()
That's how the system works.
When you switch to/from a Blackberry Plan, you're given CREDIT for the days you have left. If you're on the $50/Unlimited Plan, and you are 10 days into your reboost, you will receive roughly $1.66 per day, totaling roughly $33.00 for the remaining 20 days you didn't use, which means you owe roughly $17 to reactivate the account... and it will now be active for 30 more days, with your reboost date being 1 month from the time of the change.
If you're on the Blackberry Plan and going to the $50 plan, you will get $2.00 per day left on the reboost, the date will be reset, and you will owe the remainder which would be $10 to reactivate the account.
I've done probably over 50 swaps to/from Blackberry Plans for customers and have always received the credits as suppose to.
Ha! Yeah, I know what you mean about them not understanding what you're talking about. It seems that if the question we are asking doesn't fit into a specific group of questions, like "Activate my phone" or "Do I have auto reboost" or "I would like to make a payment" etc, they try to force it into those categories and the conversation makes no sense from there. That's happened to me several times.
Its funny, I dont know who said this, I think it was DT in another thread, but usually if you get a young sounding female rep, they are usually rude, and will most likely not be too helpful, but most of the male reps I spoke to with a accent were very helpful, and were always nice. Just my observation so far.
This is a message received when trying to change a Boost Blackberry Plan after the 1st stage of Shrinkage ($55/mo) to a NON Blackberry Plan...
"You cant update your device because your account has a pending future dated plan change. If you want to update your device, you will need to cancel the future dated price plan change and return to update your device. "
Ahh, so that's what the gray button in "Plans and Add-ons" is for...I was wondering if it would be possible to just enter a Boost BB in the "Update Handset" area and it would switch plans, carrying Shrinkage over--without having to "Cancel Plan Change" or whatever it's called. Guess not...
Not too happy about that. I hate to be fickle about it, but isn't this about customer retention? Why shouldn't we be allowed to switch between plans and keep Shrinkage? It seems almost counter-intuitive to say "no, you can't pay us $10/mo more for a BIS plan without starting over"![]()
I spoke with a few people about the issue and they do have a process to FIX this issue, but it must be done by a "higher-up".
After you do the change, they submit a case, then the "higher-up" will fix the account and restore the automatic shrinkage option.
Is there a place on Boost's website where you can check to see how may shrinkage payments you've made? Just curious if they have counter.
