    Build FRG83D pushed

Just received Google's latest OTA for my Nexus 1. It's still 2.2.1 but the build number is now FRG83D. No changes noticed to me. I believe they are all internal changes.
Looks like Gingerbread (2.3) is coming soon.

Had the same update last night, and oddly enough, my location services are all wonky now. It frequently cannot locate me based on cellular only, and the News and Weather app either cannot locate me, or falls back to last known location (Barrie, and I work in Toronto)

Otherwise, haven't noticed anything else different.... but I keep waiting for that Gingerbread to hit.

Interestingly enough, location services work perfectly while on wifi.... I'm gonna wager a guess here, and say there's something up with Rogers

I had the same location troubles with the News & Weather app. I went to settings>manage applications and force closed the app and cleared data then I restarted and it seemed to do okay after that.

Forget above. It was only temporary. Here's hoping Gingerbread will fix

Ok, at least I'm not going insane. It's not just News and Weather, the Browser, Places, etc, will not update over the cellular network, but all work fine on wifi. Good to know it's not just me.

Sorry, I moved it to the wrong forum. It's fixed now.

No worries... just gave my brain a serious twist when it disappeared from the Rogers Android forum, only to show up in the Acer forum.

I am also having the same problem. The problem started on November 16. Another user on XDA said it started on November 15. There are a couple threads in other forums discussing the same problem. I hope there will be a fix to it soon.

Dragonstar1967: I see you have a HTC Dream. Have you tried putting your SIM into the Dream to see if location service works on it?

Just tried doing that now. My HTC Dream which was bought from Roger's is stock. It is running 1.5.
It has no problem whatsoever with finding its location using cell towers.

Okay... now for the weird bit. I returned my sim to my Nexus One and now it has no problems finding its location using the cell tower. I restarted a couple of times and I still can't get it to fail. I don't trust it though. I'll have to check it again when I get the chance to leave my local cell tower area to see if location will switch.

It seems like from the other threads that only Rogers branded Android phones work. Rogers always find a way to piss off their customers. I've had that experience a while back, it kept reading the location in the cache. Until I left for another tower area then it failed on me.

I found a post on the following site regarding this issue. Can people with the issue make a post on that thread.

Hopefully Google will see it and take action on their side.

Someone from Rogers stated they have not blocked any location services on unbranded devices.
