HTC Droid Incredible Bad Esn for Verizon NEW IN BOX!

That's exactly how the phone is advertised here. They're asking $300.

This is my first foray into the world of smartphones so I'm without a clue on what "Bad Esn for Verizon" means, and if $300 is a fair price for the Incredible. Assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you.

All else aside, based on numerous threads related to the HTC, I'm assuming the Incredible functions flawlessly with PagePlus - correct?

Do not buy any phone with a bad ESN for Verizon if you want it to work with PagePlus. It will not work. PPC does enforce the VZW blacklist last I heard.
How is it that we give up houses, businesses and bank accounts when we want a divorce but can't part with a couple of hundred bucks to find cellphone bliss?

Under Item Specifics it says carrier: Verizon, but then "Will not activate on Verizon." This one doesn't pass the "stink test".

I think its possible to flash it to Cricket or Metro, but honestly, even if I were looking to go to move to one of those carriers, I would never buy a phone with a bad ESN as I would assume that the seller is inherently dishonest.

Huh! I'm a little dumbfounded. With the advent of the internet which provides instant fact checking access (as was the case here), why would a seller in this day and age try to mislead/bambozle a potential buyer?

I'm not sure that I see where this particular seller is misleading?
Granted I wonder where all his/her new bad esn handsets are coming from. But misleading? Feedback over 2000 and 100% positive.........

The seller clearly states: "Fine candidate for Flashing to other carriers such as MetroPcs, Us Cellular, Cricket or Any other CDMA carriers. Will not activate on Verizon."

I am not saying that I would encourage one to buy one of these handsets........but calling it misleading is a stretch.

I recently tested the "don't mention a PP Dealer by name" rule here on PP Hofo......trust me, it is still in effect - got me a 7 day ban.

This was probably an insurance swap of some sort. Thus new, but bad ESN.

And remember, the average person might not know what "we" do, in that the interwebs will quickly indicate not to buy this phone. At least the seller is pretty clear that it won't work on VZW.

The seller is straight saying bad esn but asking $300 is ridiculous for a bad esn phone even if it is a Droid Incredible. Original Droids are going for clean esns for less then $150 online in many places. Unlike the Iphone, most 'iphone killers' get really cheap really fast if you just wait.

And even if you do flash it to Metro or Cricket, it isn't universal in their coverage. Outside of dual channel markets (older markets), it'd be useless except via roaming mode because all of the newer markets (many major urban areas like NYC) happen to be AWS/non dual mode.

I don't know how the smaller regional cdma carriers would be but then in that case you lose coverage even more so then on Metro /Cricket. Plus it will cost extra beyond the $300 to flash it unless you have the skills yourself to do it.

There will be other Droid Incredibles with good esns coming along. Patience.

Droid Incredibles on Metro and Cricket in my area and dealers I know are easily fetching 400 plus for that phone on their service. Unlimited data and the phone is easily modified for use on those companies. Its a great phone to have, especially if your not traveling into roaming areas at all or not much. And at least in So Cal, just about everywhere you go will have Metro coverage.

Markets differ Mark. My market is small but I see three Droid Incredibles with GOOD esns on Craigslist for $300, 325 and 350. Metro's gotten better but my market is still out of their reach.

That's good information fonez. I am the impatient type and will buy the first thing I see. And I did not know that Metro or Cricket coverage is not universal.
I have noticed that the original Droids, the Eris, etc. have went waaaay down in price lately. Maybe the Incredible price will drop soon as well. Here's hoping, because that's what I wan too!

Just be patient. I found my Incredible on Craigslist, one month old, with 2 cases and a screen protector for $225. And a CLEAN ESN. I met the seller at a VZW store to confirm before forking over the cash.
