Speeds like this are becoming commonplace in OKC and surrounding areas. Even seeing 15mbps at cell edge.

Undisclosed device on VZW LTE in Oklahoma City (with only 2 bars):

Here are some tests I took tonight from inside the Hyatt in downtown Chicago. I will take some more tests tomorrow during the auto show as well.

A friend just south of downtown consistently gets 5-6 mbits on VZW LTE at home. Downtown sure looks alot better.

Downtown Akron on VZW LTE vs. Akron suburbs on T-Mobile UMTS . Both are best speeds I've got on either carrier

Pings are always much lower on my g2x. Its crazy

im nor sure if its because i JUST activated my phone today but not happy at all with the speedtest....150 ping and adv is 2 - 3.5megs!! did a few test on diff servers and all the same...im about 20 miles from the city so it shouldnt be overloaded...also i notice that it says "Ehrpd" instead of "LTE"???..also my phone is rooted..dont know if that makes any diff?..what the hell verizon the whole idea of leaving sprint was for WAY FASTER SPEEDS!

If the test isn't showing LTE then it's on 3G.

Here are some 3G (EHRPD) speeds I got today. Quite happy, I had no reason to switch my phone into 4G mode.

    Connection Type: Ehrpd
    Server: Chicago, IL
    Download: 2655 kbps
    Upload: 862 kbps
    Ping: 89 ms

    Connection Type: Ehrpd
    Server: Chicago, IL
    Download: 2586 kbps
    Upload: 858 kbps
    Ping: 100 ms

    Connection Type: Ehrpd
    Server: Chicago, IL
    Download: 2566 kbps
    Upload: 863 kbps
    Ping: 98 ms

I wish VZ 3G was always like this.

4G Tests will say LTE, like this:

    Connection Type: Lte
    Server: Chicago, IL
    Download: 42405 kbps
    Upload: 16217 kbps
    Ping: 45 ms

Keep in mind there are some areas that don't hit 40, 50, 60+ mbps all the time, Verizon states their LTE should always be at least 6mbps though, which is still plenty fast for a phone.

i also thought i was on 3g beacause of the slow speeds and very high ping but i downloaded a app that lets me switch to 2g,3g and LTE...i switch it to 3g and did a test and got 0.61 down and 0.78 up with ping of 170 2nd test 0.87 down and 0.96 up with ping of 143 SAME SPEEDS AS SPRINT...i then switch it to LTE and still got the 2-3megs down with a ping of 150....would really love to see 40megs down and a ping of 50 or below

EDIT: on the 3G test it shows LTE and on the 4G test it shows Ehrpd?????????????

Sounds like your data switching app is screwing you up. Get rid of it.

You are using a Thunderbolt. What did you expect? It is the worst out of the 4G phones. Also, your phone being rooted may cause a problem.
v Speed Test with my Motorola Droid in AL. Droid Does (and so Does Verizon).

Speed Test with my Motorola Droid in Birmingham, AL. Droid Does (and so Does Verizon).^

Speed Test with DSL internet with AT&T(Bellsouth). Horrible.
