Official Group 3 Transition Discussion (AZ/NM/CO)

AT&T is going to UMTS, not GSM. The CDMA network will remain up for roamers into 2013, though using it is at the roamer's carrier's discretion. Sprint is removing 3G/M2M roaming abilities and adding limits in the markets. I believe that CDMA TracFone that USES Alltel is going away, but I'm not sure on that. They'll need to go AT&T GoPhone or something like that.

Any one know if we are on track last day to order is the 26th here and phones are supposed to ship out 2 weeks after that! Don't hold my breath right? I know they are doing something to the towers here cause service is really snooty right now.

You can order online thru 2/4 and phones wont go out until the last week of February at the earliest. I am not sure where the "2 weeks" timeframe came from.

However, if you are in AZ the phones are shipping Monday.

I am in group 4B in Lovington, NM. We were given a new deadline of 1/26 to order our phones. On the confirmation it said the phones would be mailed sometime after 2/4. I called the direct line at at&t for the Alltel merger questions and the rep told me that we would receive our phones sometime mid February and they would transition a week or two after that. Has anyone in 4A transitioned or received their phones yet?

Phones for group 4 will not start shipping until the last week of February at the earliest.

The AT&T network is live on former Alltel towers in Arizona and replacement handsets have shipped. All AZ customers should be transitioned by 2/10/11.

Another part of group 3 is up next, more info to follow.

However, it does show 3g and mobile broadband coverage? I don't what or if that means anything good! Ha ha!

scj, that means the network is up in your area, the new network is 3G-only

So, has anyone gotten any recent information on the northwest corner of New Mexico? (San Juan Sandoval, & McKinley Counties?) My phone is falling apart, still functional, but I would like to wait for my new phone. They don't even make this one anymore.
