I am in one of the first changeover areas, CA6 which includes Mammoth Lakes and Death Valley National Park. Network upgrade has mostly been compete, and all our remaining analog only towers have had the new umts equipment installed except one.

Selecting a replacement phone is quick and easy. We will guide you through the steps to select a replacement phone.

For each line on your account, you will have the option to:
1) Select a free comparable replacement phone

For your convenience, we have recommended a phone comparable to what you have today for each line on your account. Click the checkbox to accept the free recommended phone or click on "Choose an AT&T Phone" to see other free phone options. No additional contract term with AT&T is required when you select a free phone.
2) Purchase an upgraded device like the iPhone or other select device

A new two-year service agreement and an applicable AT&T rate plan and data service are required with the purchase of an iPhone or other upgrade devices. All plans, features, services, and discounts on your existing account will no longer be available to you and will be replaced with new service selections upon your transition to AT&T.

NOTE: If a phone number on your account does not appear below, your account may have been temporarily split to make shopping easier. Please complete the order for the lines displayed. Then go back to the Getting Started page and start a new order by entering the missing phone number.

Are you the only one getting into the pre-selection phase at this time? I'm curious - it seems that these are really just divided into groups - smartphones and non-smartphones. Looks like our selections will be the same-ish.

After looking at my other 3 lines it looks there are 3 groups. Smart Phones, Qwerty Phones and Basic Phones.

I got a LG 8575 touch which Alltel says is a smartphone.
I hope AT&T says the same thing, If they do then I got a choice
between the HTC Aria or the Palm Pre Plus.

I'm coming from a Hero and want to go to the Captivate. I plan on getting the free upgrade to the Aria, selling it and the Hero and then buy the Captivate. I generally don't sign contracts so this should help bring the cost down.

If you're only getting messaging phones offered for the Hero something is wrong... call them I guess...

I got offered all these above plus the Bold, Pre Plus, or the Aria on both my Blackberry lines. Probably gonna stick with the Bolds once they come back in stock.

So if you want an upgraded phone, you have to get an AT&T plan, no matter what? That sucks. I expected it with the iPhone, but not anything else.

Well I just logged back in to the AT&T site and the Aria, Bold and Pre Plus are now available to me. They must be verifying information and updating still. Whew!!!! Didn't want to commit to a contract if I didn't have to.

According to asp13 @ Crackberry, the 9700 won't be an option, but another Blackberry will be. Anyone know what phone that would be? 9780? Curve 3g?

It will actually default to a different BB at the end of the week. The 9700 is there as a place holder until the new one launches.
