flashing a sprint lg optimus to metro pcs?

Hey guys I was able to figure out how to root my Optimus S, installed custom recovery and intalled the Thunder Rom. I took it to metro pcs and they flashed so now the phone has voice and text. So now did anyone figure out how to get the data and web working? Thanks.

It will be my first attempt at reprograming a phone. I understand that lg models are basicly un brickable but in knowing myself, I have to say that I would be the one person able fudge it up enough to brick it. then a brand new fresh out of the box four hundred ish phone would end up down the toliet so to speak. Sooooo, when I start, having all the instructions on hand is the only way I feel I could go.

Hey Im new to this site and I myself own a sprint Optimus, I have in the past flashed the htc evo succesfully to metro, I recently bought the optimus and have ended running into a brick wall, lol but let me tell you I got the web and the android market working on the phone, I still cant get mms due to not being able to root the phone ,I guess its on a ota firmware update that is to advanced for me, the proccess I followed is the htc evo on metro pcs guide ,from the fine people at the xda developers site try iprovisioning the optimus with the evo settings it got web and data working on the stock rom , I could only complete step one and two from the guide ,not being rooted i cant do step 3 , just one more thing ,on the phone itself pull up the dialer pad enter ##lgservicemenu browse for the data service tab and on pp config use a generic carrier for the settings, my two cent there now if you could help me root the phone i would gladly appriciate it

I use cdma workshop for this device i can just read the spc and write all the settings i need to get talk txt and data working all in one. mms you need to use a apn edit with metro's mms settings in place of sprints. But cdma workshop is $100 and you could probley pay someone half of that to do it for you... craigslist

if your device is stuck on the activation screen just use voice commands to connect to wifi and gain access to the market place the same way. then you cna download something like launcher pro. That way you don't have to deal with rooting and flashing a custom rom.

Yes I have the Sprint LG Optimums working on Metro but I haven't post up the tutorial for free yet but I can give you a few tips to get you moving if you want to try and figure it out yourself.

I recomend verizon phones, page plus is part of verizon and im sure the settings are very close to null on verizon and page plus,

the EVDO user-id or password does not revert back to "sprint... bla bla bla"?????
i have samsung saga that always revert back to vzw3g (the user-id) whenever the phone restart

you could use voice search to get to wifi settings and the market and download something like launcher pro to bypass sprint id screen... setup the phone as a modem and connect to it via CDMA Workshop and using that you can provision the MDN MIN write the .PRL file for metro... Boom! talk text data... you will not get mms provisioning the phone like that tho...

This is a universal method for all android phones flashed to non- native carriers when flashing a ROM intended for the native carrier:
You need to use "apn backup" from the market. Download it and backup before you change your ROM. Do a nand backup from recovery in case something goes wrong so you can restore if needed. Wipe everything but your SD card 2x before flashing the new ROM. "Flash zip from SD card" and select the zip for your new ROM. Once booted into your new ROM skip everything in the initial setup. Put into airplane mode. Connect to WiFi. Open market and do setup then install only "apn backup". Use "apn backup" to delete current apns then restore your backup. Turn off WiFi and airplane mode. Some ROMs act funny on the first boot so you may want to reboot.

If you could point me in the right direction I'm supposed to flash an Optimus S for a friend but I've only done HTC phones so far and haven't found much on Google yet.

Hi Elisa191, I have an LG Optimus S on MetroPCS, with 2004 PRL, talk, text & web/apps work but MMS is not working. I am using Reborn 2.2.2 ROM on it. I did the APN backup & restore with the metropcs.xml and nada... I understand a lot about flashing and provisioning so any help or hint will be very helpful.
