alright let me know how it goes
no im not confusing the account must not have an agreement call them rite now and ask
Phoned back and was told that even though I purchased the 3GS at full price, because I'm currently on an agreement, they cannot unlock the phone.
To me, that makes no sense at all.
So, if I were to sell/give the 3GS to someone that is not on an agreement, in theory they should be able to get it unlocked?
It's not BS dude. He was able to get two iP4's unlocked, he knows his ****. But he was relaying to us what he was told by Rogers. I think WorldIRC is correct, but dil_king was trying to help the rest of us by telling us what he was told. If you want to call BS, call a Rogers/Fido rep and when they give you information that contradicts their own Library, call BS on them.
chill the **** out.

Call them back, tell them to bring up the library item for the unlock policy effecting 14-Dec-2010. Then give them the exact quote from the library and tell the to do a search on the page for that string.
They are lazy and looking at this:
"Why can't I unlock my device if I'm on a contract? * * * * *Because originally we subsidized the cost of your handset, you will be eligible only when your agreement term is completed.."
Tell them to find this:
"If I purchase a new device when I qualify for a HUP, will my old phone be eligible to be unlocked? * * * * *Yes. Once you initiate a new agreement, you can unlock phones from previous contracts."
If people were asking me the same question that I'd already answered, I'd probably do something to emphasize my answer again. You might too. As far as he knew and was informed in no uncertain terms by Rogers, his answer was correct.
And who said I was swearing. Maybe I typed asterisksI'm very chill. Just don't want you guys getting into some heated argument over conflicting info, when the source of both is Rogers/Fido. Vent on them.

Here is another member on this forum posting what Rogers and fido said to me and if you want them to refer to their own library good luck with that some of the agents will take it offensively and some will say Ru telling me to do my job and a few might go and check
The answer is "yes, I am telling you how to do your job. I pay my bills each month so that you have a job. In return, I expect that you will put 100% effort into serving me, the customer, so that I get the maximum value for what I am paying your company. I am not asking you to go above and beyond, I am not asking anything illegal, I am not asking for anything that is outside the scope of your power. All I am asking is for you to verify a policy in which I think you may have incorrect information about. Now, will you help me or do I need to speak to your manager".
Bloody hell! Just got off the phone with Fido.
Again, CSR did not know anything about this policy. Here's the history of my phone:
Feb 09 - 3 year agreement taken out with subsidized iPhone 3G
Summer 09 (can't remember exactly)- Purchased iPhone 3GS directly from Apple store
Late summer 10 - Original 3GS replaced with another under warranty from Apple store
Yesterday, when I phoned in, I provided CSR with IMEI of the new 3GS. Technical support team said that IMEI did not appear on their system, so therefore not eligible to unlock. (When I bought the 3GS from Apple store, it wasn't put through the Fido system???)
According to CSR, the only iPhone that appears on my account is the original 3G that I got with my agreement.
So, now I need to provide Fido with a copy of my original receipt for the 3GS and also a copy of the receipt for the warranty exchange before the CSR will even talk to the Technical team again about unlocking my phone!!
WTF? Also, the CSR told me that if the phone is purchased unsubsidized, I only have 30 days after the date of purchase to unlock????
All this for a phone that I purchased unsubsized but is still locked to Fido and I am willing to pay the $50 fee!!!
I wish the CSR's would keep up to date with new company policies....
