    Sense vs. Touchwiz

I don't mean to beat the Mesmerize vs. Desire thing into the ground, but the main relevant threads mainly focus on hardware, and I'm curious about the software. I've got a Desire now, and due to the Mesmerize's superior hardware I'm thinking about switching (still within my 30 days). But I love HTC Sense, and I'm not sure I could give it up.

So, my question is mainly directed at Mesmerize users. How bad (or good) is TouchWiz? And if you install something like LauncherPro how much of TouchWiz is left? Has Samsung altered some of the stock apps (Music, calender, gallery, etc), and if so, are the modifications good?

(Note: I do not plan to get rid of the stock ROM and going to Cyanogen or anything like that, I got tired of modding back when I had a Touch Pro)

The hardware on the Samdung is only superior if you are their fan boy. The Desire is one of the best phones on the market in my opinion.

How is the Mesmerize hardware NOT superior? More internal memory, equal or better processor, better screen. Anyhow, that's not what I was asking about. I've already read all the debates about the hardware and I was only asking about software.

It does NOT have the same processor. Desire has the 1ghz snapdragon, the mesmerize uses a 1ghz hummingbird.

Desire uses a super LCD screen, samsung uses a super AMOLED. This alone is a HUGE difference. I've had both phones, it's obvious the galaxy has a better screen, size is irrelevant.

Desire has a whopping 512mb internal memory, galaxy has 2gb.

So what about these phones is the same again? There's quite a few other differences as well if you'd like me to point those out as well or is 3 glaring ones enough?

Frankly whether i had the desire or the mesmerize i'd bump sense or touchwiz. Neither one is customizable. Use launcher pro or something else and do it your own way. There's nothing really bad about touchwiz, some of the widgets are laggy, other than that it works fine. Sense has it's own issues from what i've seen as well.

To answer the original question TouchWiz sucks. I have had the mesmerize, switched to the desire, and switched back to the mesmerize. I still hate toucwiz lol. Launcher pro is the best UI on the market.

If you spring the extra couple bucks for the launcherpro Plus, it definitely makes it worth it. It has a LOT less lag than touchwiz or sense. The plus also allows you to have a sense experience with the calander, people, messaging, facebook, twitter and more tabs. If you combine it with either Beautiful widget or Fancy widget (version 1.3 has the sense clock and weather look) It really completes the phone.

I have the plus with beautiful widget. I have all my tabs like I had with HTC Sense. Beautiful widget has tons of clock skins and a lot of weather skins to make it look the way you want. And almost zero lag.

So if you get rid of the desire and get the mesmerize, get rid of touch wiz and get launcherpro. Its better than sense, touchwize, panda, open, or ADW.

the desire would have super amoled if samsung wouldnt have said we cant keep up with htc. so in the defense of htc it is samsungs fault they got stuck with super lcd.

as for proc we said same speed not same proc.

as for the internal memory yes it was a bad move on htc part to make it 512. but froyo helps that out alot

To me it's the HTC guys who are the Fanboys, you get a crappier screen, no internal memory (WTH was HTC thinking?). I like sense better then touchwiz but that alone doesn't make up for all the crappy parts of the desire. And what I've read in relation to the samsung tab is that 2.2 takes care of the lag.

Hunter I like how you blame Samsung for HTC not coming up with there own screen. If I produce a product that goes into another product I make...It goes to me first, not to another party...Simple business.

Unfortunately no one here seems to realize that the launcher is NOT the only element of the TouchWiz UI.

the TouchWiz launcher is the best looking. Launcher pro looks like garbage on the stock settings, has extremely noticeable banding on gradient widgets and it's just not in the same league. If it was able to run at the same graphics quality as TouchWiz without being extremely laggy it would be a different story.

TouchWiz is superior. The included Music Player/Video Player is better. The Camera interface is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than the Desire's, besides the HD recording not being complete and total garbage. TouchWiz is far truer to stock Android than Sense will ever be, the current call & music player widgets integrated the notifications panel are extremely useful. etc. TouchWiz is just not as bloated as Sense and it's better in so many respects.
LTE has arrived. The third carrier in Las Vegas with 10x10 LTE coverage

Coverage will expand to 100 million LTE pops for the first half of 2013, with the second half of 2013 expanding to 200 million POPs covered. Release 10 LTE (2×10, 2×20) will be better performing than all other competitors.
T-Mobile USA. “This year, we’re stepping on the gas again. We are making continued coverage improvements and launching an advanced LTE network

Having had the Acclaim for 28 days then the Desire and then moving to the Mesmerize, I miss alot of HTCs widgets especially the weather. The lockscreen was much easier to use as well. Launcherpro is awesome with the Mesmerize however. If you have a lot of apps I have 220+ it is easier to swipe from screen to screen, plus the extra installation space is awesome. The camera was much easier and intuitive, pressing in the center button Wtf!

Don't listen to any of these jokers. If you like Sense the only way you're going to know whether you can live with TouchWiz is to to a store and play with a Mezmerize.

Touchwiz blows. Sense blows. LauncherPro blows. ADWLauncher is the way to go. Then again, I don't need a bunch of widgets and other crap cluttering up my screen... Just need one, Beautiful Widgets weather/clock. Everything else, meh.

I have a couple customers with Mezmerize's and I hate the damn lock screen and the lack of hard buttons. Yes the processor is better in the Mezmerize, but I have yet to play a game on my HTC that lags. Videos and pictures look perfect to me, the Amoled screen is a tad better, and does have bettery power management, but I've read numerous reviews talking about how the amoled screen has weird colors in it when you have certain color combinations on it. Supposedly it does play video's better, but hey, I bought a phone, not a portable media player. This HTC smokes every phone I have ever had or used, the Mez is a tad better in some ways, but had they done a better job of design on the Mez I think it might sway me, but without physical hard buttons and until they can fix Touchwiz, I will stick with my HTC running 2.2 and absolutely smoking your Mez for the moment
