Are the Nokia E71 phones from StraightTalk locked to the carrier? I spend my winters in Mexico, and it would be helpful if I could use the phone with a Telcel SIM while there.

There's also http://www.unlockit.co.nz/
Select your carrier to install the correct APN.
Do you guys see a problem with purchasing a refurb phone directly thru st web site for use in a Iphone 3g? The first post says Walmart only. Is there a valid reason?
Thanks!
You can buy it anywhere but make sure u check out the ESN! if u buy it off a person and if your buying it from the company it will be fine,I bought it off craigslist and it took them a week and a half to get it working , they are extremely retarded and not from the united states so buy it from walmart or from them, save yourself from a major headache!!!!

That is my point. English is not the only language of intelligent people. Someone else was chastised in this very thread for using that term loosely.
The term for which you are looking is "stupid." "Dumb" means unable to speak.
I think what everyone is trying to say is...If you call Straight talk tech support you would understand...they speak little english and what they do know they read from scripts on there computers so it takes them 15 minutes to process the simplest questions....I was activated a friends e71 he bought used on craigslist and it took us 4 hour long calls to get these idiots to activate the account...they had to send us 2 new sim cards because they gave us some ******** about the first sim would work with straight talk but was unavaible for porting his humber from TMobile...When have you ever heard of the sim determining if a number can be ported from tmobile.
Anyways stay away from tech support if at all possible, it is literally the worst tech support on earth NO JOKING
I understand that English is not their first language. That is no cause to call the people retarded or stupid. As one can tell from some of the messages in these forums, many members are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
So if you grab an e71 and the SIM card isn't one of the proper ones, how do you go about getting the right SIM card? Do you just return the phone and get a new one? Call up CSR and ask for a new SIM? Why do you say you need a new SIM, do you say you have a problem with activation?
