Mr Romeo or others: please some one post a how to on jailbreaking an Iphone 3GS with 4.2.1. Believe me I have spent a lot of time trying to jailbreak this phone. I can use the Iphone just fine with talk, text, and 3G, just want to have it jailbreaked.

Really? I've been jailbreaking for years, and I just saw this site for the first time today and thought my god it couldn't be any clearer, I wish I would have known about this site years ago.
If you can't learn by doing and research the thousands of youtube videos, websites, and how-to guides, then you have no business jailbreaking, you'll only get yourself frustrated.

I have followed step by step the jailbreaking techniques. It freezes at "exploiting with limera1n" using redsnow. You might have been jailbreaking for years but the posted techniques are not working for my iphone.

Try doing a DFU restore of your firmware. If that doesn't help, you may be having computer/connection issues and should probably try using a different computer.
I have a straight talk e71 and it does function without sim over wifi. No phone calls, but browse web, listen to music, play games, do work. Haven't tried fring but I will give it a try.
Zmk76, you are correct, the wifi works fine without a sim card. I havent got the sip settings yet to work but Fring works great. Just The screen is small LOL!! If they cut the service off I'll just pop the sims back in the E71 and raise cane with them and ask why my E71 quit working
Hold on to your E71 in case you need or want to put its SIM card back into it.
Trac had problems at the start with people buying their phones (sold below cost to get new business) flashed and resold at a big profit overseas. This caused Trac to begin using a complicated lockdown process to stop this.
After Trac killed Tracfones and Net 10`s for abuse, the owners were able to port their phone number off the dead phone (as long as it had not already been reasigned).

My son threw his iphone in the kitchen drawer after getting out of his contract, i ran across this post that i could use it with my e71 that i have had a few months, and it works ! im sorry to say i thought someone was full of it,lol im truly sorry!call text and voicemail works terriffic but no data, i need directions or links for good directions if someone would be so kind, thanks linda

Clearly you didn't read. It's the DATA that doesn't work, not the voice\text. You can only use the $45 unlimited with THEIR Nokia E71
Ok I held down the power button and the home button until the phone rebooted. Now its working again, still no jailbreak! I have spent so much time on this, and no one seems to have a solution.

I am not in a position to try this (got interested but discovered that I am not in a 3G area and to do what I want to through a certain site requires 3G so E71 returned) BUT there are detailed instructions in the FIRST post in this thread. It does require use of the Straight Talk $45 cards, putting the SiM from the E71 in the iPhone. AND KEEPING THE E71 SO THAT YOUR SIM IS NOT DEACTIVATED BY SOMEONE TRYING TO USE THE E71 BY GETTING A NEW SIM

i have done all of this and have my iphone working, i was just trying to figure out if there is a way to get the data working, if not my sim goes back into my nokia e71 . going to read some more.thanks for the info.

Why so rude? Clearly you didn't read her post right where she says that she got voice and text working but wanted the data settings. And she's been using the E71 since before you joined this forum so she is well aware of the cost.
