The first thing you do with IPHONE is run TinyUmbrella and iFaith,and save "SHSH's if your on 4.X.X or save your APTickets,for restoring at a later date.Also these 2 programs will let you know if someone before had saved or jailbroken the phone if they did it correctly .The E71 and sim must be activated first,then if you have problem's with the iphone go to the iphone section and read there about problem's it might be having,If you are having problem's with iphone you must learn how to use itune's and Trick's & tips for using the S/W,Start in Iphone Forum's they have the same problem's no matter what Carrier you use.There is only 3-4 pages of good info in this thread and the rest is the same ??? being asked over and over,
You dont have to JAILBREAK THE IPHONE TO MAKE IT WORK WITH THE SIM,it will call mail etc. it just WONT do MMS(pic&text) that you will have to jailbreak and look for an app or EDIT your files,Search with google and you will all ? answered in different forum's.

Had the same problem on a 3GS I was trying to set up today. Have you tried sending an MMS message to the ST iPhone from another phone and see if it will receive it? Once I did that, the picture was received successfully and I was able to send from the ST iPhone. Don't know if that was a fluke or if it somehow was activated by receiving a message, but it worked for me.Originally Posted by jsd2643

It DOES seem to have been a hardware issue. I finally realized that it was going between "searching for service" "no service" and "Home" . The used Iphone I purchased on Ebay definitely seems to have a signal problem. I have ordered a refurbished one from Newegg, so, we'll see.

Ebay is too pricey for me I've gotten some great deals on craigslist and you can haggle over price,condition,I use the same restaurant to meet at so I know it's safe..

could someone point me in the right direction to change the apns & get the mms working on my at&t iphone 3gs using straight talk sim, I followed all the instructions I could find. would appreciate a walk thru, thanks

okay, I missed the part where you have to install TetherME, right now when I go into setting, I have no option for "Cellular Data Network", I assume once I download TetherMe, it will give me that option? Thanks again!!

Yah once you drop tetherme on it you will get access to put in all the settings. Don't matter what kinda gsm iPhone you got.
And for fux sake stay the hell away from that unlockit.co stuff if you got tether me. Uninstall any profile it put on in case you did.

o.k., thanks again, I am TOTALLY lost when it comes to the iphones, I use android myself, doing this one for a friend, I won't have the iphone back till tomar, so i'll try downloading the TetherME tomar, hope I have better luck than today!!
