This may also be a test by Amerika Movil, you know reverse psychology. Just to see just how many people will switch their SIM to a different device and just how much data will be consumed.
For those of you who are sticklers for the rules, go ahead stick with a lame a$$ useless locked compal phone.
Personally I like to get what I pay for. And as soon as I can afford it, I'll jump the NET10 ship and hop on board the ST ship.

My only hope is that this lasts long enough for other carriers that are iPhone compatible (H20, Go phone, etc) to offer more data with their plans. Im almost tempted to buy the 1 year prepaid plan from the ST website so I can have this plan locked in for a year.

Believe me, I don't have a dog in this "fight", but these so-called "naysayers" have high enough post counts that they've likely seen evidence over time that America Movil is a company that highly values the exclusivity they set their system up to follow, for whatever reason. One only needs to review their solution to users (mainly regarding TracFone) who tried to simply transfer minutes and service days from one phone to another: After some time, their service was killed, whether justified or not. There was an issue of whether certain types of acquired minutes/days were legitimate for transfer. But this is just to illustrate that those recommending caution might have a better view of the big picture than those with low post counts. And that endlessly and exuberantly talking about it on what is probably the most prominent cell phone forum around, well visited and influential, might eventually have its drawbacks. Just a thought.

The worst they can do is turn off your service, which basically means buy your service a month at a time (avoid the multi-month cards) and don't port an important number in. There's still a lot of people who are willing to use the service under those conditions.

If the hammer drops, there's always eBay and Craigslist for any phone hardware you decide you no longer want. You'll still make out far better than having to eat an ETF on a postpaid carrier, so smile and stop worrying.

OR you can go to Simple Mobile and use your iPhone. I'm not sure if ALL versions of iPhones work but some do, and you don't have to hack it or be scared your stuff's gonna get taken away. Though i did hear there's a 5gb cap on the "Unlimited Plan" for Simple Mobile.

I'm just saying. Not ment to diverge from the topic. Just throwing my peanuts in. Please don't step on them, only got the 2.

Also here is where i get my "iPhone can be used on Simple Mobile" even though it's not on their supported phone list. Just copy and paste it to your browser and replace the hxxp with http. Incase hotlinking isn't allowed.

hxxp://www.mysimplemobile.com/Support-Center.aspx Go there and click on the Service Programming tab.

You can NOT use a Simple Mobile sim in your iPhone if it is not unlocked! Plus you dont get 3G! A lot of iPhone users can not unlock due to their baseband version. This is an alternative to that.

If anything, ST should be happy they are getting all of these new customers! iPhone or not! You can suck just as much bandwidth from an ST phone as you can with a iPhone running a ST sim.

HowTo has been taken down. You can thank the "high post" "know it all" haters on this forum.

God bless you Mr. Romeo! I was waiting for someone to finally figure this out! The e71 seems like an expensive "brick" but the $200 you spend on it will open up to almost a thousand dollars in savings over the course of a few years! Plus not even AT&T offers unlimited 3G data on new customers! Plus UNLIMITED TALK AND SMS AND MMS????????? what more can you need!!!! GoPhone charges over $60 just for talk and text! I'm on an unlocked iPhone 3GS right now on an unlimited gophone plan but I'm gonna try to but the e71, have a specialist unlock it for me, resell it on eBay for the same price, keep the ST SIM and do what you just did!

That's perfect. Thanks for just taking them down..... I guess I should've PRINTED them or something earlier today.

This pi$$es me off. ESPECIALLY since I just dropped 370 for an iPhone 4 and was going to hold off for a few days 'til payday to get the E71.

    Appreciate it.

Just a little rant...AT&T gophone charges WAYYYYYYY too much for data, $0.01 per KB=$1,000 per GB. you can get 2GB postpaid for $25. This straighttalk hack is a Christmas miracle!

What does post count have to do with ANYTHING here? I've been around here THREE more years (and 5 months) than you... and just because I don't talk as much doesn't mean that you know more than I do.

I've seen things happen and stay happening.
