If you stick the SIM into the phone you should have the ability to make calls and text right away....assuming you have already gone through the instructions on your activation card that is. The APN only affects data and picture messaging. Updating the phone will still allow Straight Talk to work. You will have to jailbreak again though. The Tmobile SIM swap only works withe 4S and some unlocked phones.

No kidding Mr. Romeo. It seems like ages ago that I found this thread and used some of the info to create the Android one. If ST customer service didn't suck so bad we probably wouldn't need it. I don't see that changing anytime soon, so I guess we'll be here awhile.....

Hello everyone.....first off thanks to all especially Mr Romeo for helping us out with issues.....here is MY problem

I bought a iphone 3gs from a fellow coworker to try swapping my E71 sim card into....so far so good it works great all except one thing I can not send pics through text messages....I can make calls, surf internet, send emails, send texts.....just cant attach pics to text.....the phone is currently on ios 5.1.1 I did everything on the first page except the jailbreaking and here is why....when I went to the site linked for jailbreak and picked 3gs iphone running 5.1.1 it said nothing was available.....is this right.....i read a couple pages back about a program called redstorm, will that work on my phones current operating system? Do i need to downgrade to a earlier ios program? Any help is greatly appreciated

I believe the 5.1 jailbreak would work for that. Latest version of redsnow....it would be tethered. Worked on my iPhone 4 running 5.1.1.

It might another month before we get it, but one of the guys that creates the jailbreaks managed to get 5.1 untethered. 5.1.1 only had minimal changes so it should work on that too.

People are apparently having issues with this jailbreak. A lot of failed attempts. I guess it could be user error though.

Question about Airvoice and mms on an iPhone 4, guys. I've read the first 20 and last 20 pages in this thread and didn't find a resolution. I've done an advanced search as well, but I'm sure this has been addressed somewhere. I can't send mms (which I understand is customary on the prepaid services). I just got the Airvoice sim yesterday, I was told in order to send mms I would have to jailbreak my phone (which I did). I'm running ios 5.1.1, jailbroke with Absinthe 2.01. I installed the tweak tetherme and changed my APN setting. This is what I currently have:

APN: att.mvno
MMSC: //mmsc/cingular/cm (workaround)
MMS proxy: 66.209.11.33:80
MMS max message size: 1048576

MMS still doesn't work. Initially, I was using the Airvoice settings placed on the phone from unlockit, but after reading this thread and it being said it's unnecessary to run those settings if the phone is jailbroken, I removed the profile. Also, I did add two sources (hack and sinful). I've since removed them, but mms didn't work with or without them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hey guys, i am having the same issue....im running a 3gs on5.1.1. I did the jailbreak through absinthe 2.01.1 and i did the unlockit from page one......are there any steps that need to be peformed through cydia?? I basically just jailbroke the phone and then did unlockitz......it appears that everything works except sending pics in mms

Hey guys something weird just happened......im frustrated beyond belief that i cant get mms to work.....so I did a recovery and restore on the phone I guess just basically wiping it clean, i pulled my sim card and put it back in my E71......i sent a text to my cousin from the E71 and when he replied i got the text on the iphone!!?? He has an iphone 4s by the way.......so i went into settings and hit the delete all data and programs, it said it would basically wipe the phone clean so now it has to be reconfigured as a new set up again if its to be used.......i had my cousin text me and texts appeared on my E71

Why did that happen? Did I screw up somewhere? I may not keep this iphone as this is ending up to be more hassle than anything else.....but I am a little worried now

Its Apple's iMessage functionality. You need to deactivate your iMessage account.
