Try backing up your phone and doing a fresh restore to a new phone without restoring from your backup, then install the APN. Then you can restore your stuff from your backup.

Or you could just use greenpois0n to jailbreak your phone (if you are on iOS 4.2.1, if not upgrade first) then install tether me and tether me apn editing, and enter the info manually following the MMS settings part of the how to.

    Thank you!!!

SMART...you are smart. This totally worked (to my complete and utter delight/relief)! For all the hateful and vitriolic thoughts and words I've hurled at cell phone companies in the past(week), I'm sending tenfold grateful and ecstatic ones your way. Thank you SO MUCH!!

(a p.s. for other users encountering this issue: when I tested/checked the settings after installing the mobileconfig file, 'Profile: Straight Talk' did show up under Settings > General; after I restored the back-up, the Profile tab has once again disappeared. However, I disabled wifi and am successfully cruising the 'net, so...success!)

Thanks everyone for this information! Me and my girlfriend now have an iPhone 4 on straight talk. I was pretty scared cutting the SIM card down, but it all turned out well.

    Awesome and thank you!

I was just wondering about this the other day. When I first started using this sim, I had my 3GS on 4.0 because I had been with T-mobile and had concerns about remaining unlocked. Recent developments finally allowed me to keep my baseband and upgrade to 4.21. In the midst of redoing everything I was thinking about changing that HOME logo as well. It's like you read my mind!

That and now I'll be able to have my 3GS record in HD!

This just keeps getting better and better.

Welcome. Figured some of you might be interested in getting ride of the boring HOME from the top of the phone.

Thanks guys. I stumbled upon this site yesterday and have extremely limited knowledge of cell phones and/or computers. The instructions and a nice youtube video made the process go smoothly, but I was nervous the entire time. It all worked out. I now have a StriaghtTalk, fully functioning iPhone!

The video that helped me jailbreak: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeYOxHaI-Kg

I used redsnow. It is all working. Is there something I should redo or know?
I did the easiest thing for me to understand. I didn't see a video using greenpois0n, but I didn't look very long.

Use greenpois0n now to untether your jailbreak so you can reboot your phone anytime you want, no need to redo anything or restore anything just apply greenpois0n over your current jailbreak and thats it. And the video is on jailbreakmatrix.com But goto greenpois0n.com to download the latest version.

A bit of an update, you no longer have to install TetherMe APN Editing, the new version of TetherMe already includes TetherMe APN Editing. This only applies to people doing a new ST setup and doesnt effect current ST iPhone users.

Apparently, my jailbreak was untethered. I have rebooted my phone a few times just to test it out. Redsn0w had an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 3G. But should it suddenly stop working I will try to use greenpois0n. Thanks for all your help guys. I don't fully understand everything I did, but I'm just glad it's working!

No problem. I'm still old school! If this keeps working I might buy myself an iPhone 4 after the summer and upgrade!
