It may depend on whether those phones take a mini-SIM or not. You had to cut the SIM to go into the iPhone didn't you?

Hey does anyone know of jailbroken code/apps that would make the phone app come up every time the phone is unlocked?

I am thinking of trying out my sim card on my friends BlackBerry Torch (AT&T) and my other friend's Android Phone (AT&T) as well to see if it works.
It won't work with data *calls and text mite be good to go* services on the blackberry since they use BIS i think.. but there was a work around somewhere on this forums to make it work ... as for your SIM being a microSIM now, you can buy an extender =] it'll work on Android though, might have to change up the APN's a bit.

I bought a sim cutter on ebay which came with 2 extender and i still have the original piece which is too tight to fit now lol and the extender is a bit loose but guess you're right with BIS situation .. i'll find out about the android thing

Will the ST SIM card activate the phone after a complete restore? Meaning after you do an update or restore, the iPhone will have the plug into iTunes screen. I know the iPhone will be activated once you plug in the phone via USB and launch iTunes if you have an AT&T SIM inside, I was curious if the ST SIM will activate it as well?

EDIT: Also will the built in Personal Hotspot in iOS 4.3+ work with ST?

I fully restored my iPhone 4 and just inserted my straight talk sim, worked without a problem, activated without iTunes

Yes, iTunes should still activate the phone with the ST SIM inside (it is still an at&t SIM). I've done this with my 3GS before without issue.

Personal Hotspot will only work if you enable tethering and modified the APNs to enable tethering (my previous posts here and here will help you do so nearly permanently w/out buying Cydia tweaks, or use this topic's first post to do so with paid apps and tinkering).

Awesome. Have any of you guys gone into Apple for repair or warranty purposes? I know they refuse to service you if the phone isn't activated with an AT&T SIM. Since the ST SIM can activate the phone, I'm assuming they wouldn't care?

Yes. My iphone was replaced and Apple didn't care that the sim was not from AT&T.

They don't care, I had an iPhone on Tmobile, took the SIM out before going to the store and they replaced it no problem (bad microphone).
