It HAS to be an AT&T IPhone...period. If you were doing this with Android phone THEN you could use a phone from different network(Tmobil.....but you'd be stuck with Edge speeds...no 3g)

Well, after checking Cydia, I only found one called Data Counter.... it's 2.99 .
I'm still searching where to get the DataMan app instead.

Does MMS count towards your 3G data? I think it uses somewhat data when sending. Not sure about receiving. Curious...

Anybody have this working on the iPhone 3G? I see in the OP it was never tested. Just the 3GS and 4 was.

It will work on ANY att phone that the APN can be edited on.

Technically will work with unlocked t-mobile but will only have edge data.

You could use youmail or Google voice. Gv can txt or email you when you get a vm. Youmail has an iPhone app. Both work with 3gs.

Hi guys, I just wanted to thank you for this thread and the great info here. I don't use my cell phone much but I've had the ST E71 for a couple months now and just made the switch to an Iphone. I'm not at all tech savvy but I was able to get everything working except for MMS, I didn't bother trying to jailbreak, and I'm having a blast with this.

I have a Iphone 4 with iOS 4.1 & it works like a charm.. Phone + 3G but when I try it with an Iphone 4 with iOs 4.3.3 it FAILS.... i got all the APN edited but No PHONE & NO DATA !!!

Suavebeau, is the ip4 jailbroken? I have 4.3.3 jailbroken and phone and data works fine.

My problem is my MMS only wants to work early in the morning and late at night.. This sounds like a network problem, but if anyone out there has any advice I am open to suggestions.... All of my apn settings are just like on page 1, but it doesnt wanna work. 4.3.3, tetherme, tetherme apn, and jailbroken with redns0w 0.9.6rc16.

Anyone have any advice on how to get MMS to work everytime all day??
