So, you are saying i may be able to keep the same number when i am undergoing the e71 activation process by inputting my current number in a field of some sort or maybe by calling customer support? Or, are you simple saying that the e71 uses an AT&T SIM card and the other regular Straight Talk phones, like the one I have, do not?
You have not given a model number for your current ST phone so I don`t know if you will be changing carriers (Verizon to AT&T is a port and will take longer). You can move your phone number over to the E71 from your current ST phone or you can just accept a new number, The old ST phone will deactivate when the phone number leaves it but you can reactivate it with a new number. Your phone number should go onto the SIM rather than the phone. The E71 Sim card is not locked to the phone like with other ST phones so you can move it to the iphone.
does the e71 or straight talk support voicemail call forwarding? i use google voice and i was wondering if the google voicemail replace feature will work with the iphone / e71 on straight talk... thanks!
for att to set call forwarding voicemail you'd do
AT&T Cingular, T-Mobile, GSM network: *004*1[GVnumber]*11#
iF I sign up for this, would the calls between at&t and at&t free? since mvno is unlimited I will be all covered but my gf is still stuck on at&t contract for 6 months, when i will call her would it be free for her? can anyone try it and verify it please? i know from H2O to at&t for at&t contract ppl those calls are free since they are on at&t network. Would it be same for straighttalk to at&t?
Is there a way that ST could check to make sure a SIM card is in the phone its supposed to be in? Like could they could they download a check to the sim itself or have the sim check the imei number when it does its monthly renewal?

I don't know about ST but AT&T knows what phone it is. When I was on AT&T anytime I switched my SIM to another phone it showed the new phone in my profile on their site. If anything I'm sure AT&T is providing ST will some type of report.
For anyone looking for same info, it wil be on on at&t network so anyone on at&t network can call you for free once you activate your number on E71. You will even get message of activation straight from AT&T.
Now only if someone can figure out how to make visual voicemail work.

It's not just about the 'pay for tether me part' that's big about it, to be honest.
It also allows for users of mutliple carriers/SIMs/etc (say one has a SIM on T-Mobile and a SIM on ST) to swap SIMs without having to uninstall the mobileconfig/profile everytime data or MMS is needed on the non-ST account. And it allows for one to 'reset network settings' with fewer issues as the carrier bundles tend to be more permanent than mobileconfig files.
BTW: Haven't tested tethering or MMS yet, but so far my carrier bundle mods are working for cellular data... without using a mobileconfig. So, once I test MMS & tethering and is successful, I will polish up the IPCC file (my current one still shows the at&t carrier name, hehe!) and post it w/ instructions.

Any update on this?
Yes. I plan to post some instructions and files sometime tomorrow. I have been busy w.r.t. work and wasn't able to find time to tinker on the files much. Sorry.
Tethering, MMS, and data wo on the version I have on my iPhone now. I also managed to get the manual 'Carrier' selection menu to show up {most of the time} and also allow for APN editing if needed.
The bundle I'm using currently shows AT&T as the carrier name on the top corner, but I should eventually get it set up to say 'ST' 'Tracfone' or such later.
These files will require a CommCenter modification from what I can gather, which requires a jailbreak. A google search will give you more info on that mod.

I have a sim card out of my sons e71 that he some how messed up and they sent him another sim card. The old sim was saying (sim card rejected) is there any way to fix this card and use it in the iphone?

When Straight Talk replaces a SIM card, the telephone number is transferred to the replacement SIM card. The old SIM card cannot be reactivated. How can one have the same telephone number on two devices?
