Linda what are you having trouble with? You've followed the instructions in the first post? b/c it does outline how to setup data on the iphone.

Post again for anything you need clarification with or where you're having trouble specifically.

Clearly you didn't read. It's the DATA that doesn't work, not the voice\text. You can only use the $45 unlimited with THEIR Nokia E71
WRONG! When money is exchanged for a product (CELLPHONE), the product is no longer the property of the seller or service provider. The E71 belongs to Caviler2, not NET10 (Amerika Movil)
What kinda mindset is that? Would you purchase a car from a dealer, knowing it's not actually yours to own, but just to use?
    Last I heard we don't RENT/LEASE cellphones.

Not sure where you are from but here what was said made good sense with "THEIR Nokia E71" meaning the version of the E71 sold by Straight Talk.

Just getting annoyed with those who are sticklers about using only ST branded phones. Especially now, the opportunity most everyone has been waiting for, to use better unlocked phones has presented itself.
To those who don't have an interest in this subject, why belittle those who do? If this door closes tomorrow, well, at least some were able to enjoy it while it lasted. Stop being a buzz kill to the people who like some freedom.

I just don't like the odds of getting your service turned off for violating the TOS. I have the E71 and had the card in a iphone with everything working. But, I found myself checking my account 20 times a day to make sure it was still there. Call me paranoid if you want, but I try to play by the rules. I found a viable alternative in Simple mobile. The sim cards are only 13.00 and you can use them in ANY unlocked GSM phone including the iphone. I don't feel as though I have to check my account 10 or 20 times a day now. The only draw back (if you want to call it that, I can't see much difference) is with the iphone, you only get 2G web instead of 3G. I check my email, and look at a couple news sites on my phone during the day and for that I can see little or no difference in the speed I'm getting from the Simple mobile sim. All that being said, I will stick to Simple Mobile. It seems they don't really care what phone you use with their card, and if you have a 4G phone (and there are only two of them right now) and live in a area where 4G is available, you will have 4G speed with the Simple Mobile sim card. Just so happens I'm in an area that gets 4G speed, so I'm looking to get a 4G phone as soon as I find one. If any of you are interested in Simple Mobile, send me a PM and I will try to help you all I can.

You really need to learn to read. I did not say that, you just interpret it as you please. Read, everyone else understood it except you.

A little off topic, but how much do you burn through with your iPhone on a monthly basis. Also, what att 3g smartphones would you recommend other than the iPhone, thinking about the streak but accessories are expensive.

While Simple Mobile is a good deal for what it is, there's still a few "gotchas":

They are a rather small and new MVNO. Granted, you'll probably have warning to port out if the ship started sinking, but there's always the concern that a small MVNO will close their doors suddenly.

They are $15 more expensive for unlimited everything.

They use T-Mobile's network, which can be a good or bad thing depending on where you live.

They require a T-Mobile or unlocked GSM phone, which currently isn't an ideal situation for the iPhone. The latest unlock for the 3G/3GS involves a warranty-voiding, buggy hack that can't be undone and the iPhone 4 still has no unlock available for the current baseband.

As you mentioned, Simple Mobile provides no 3G on the iPhone (due to different 3G frequencies used by T-Mo's network). While this isn't bad for e-mail, Facebook, Twitter and light browsing, it's painfully slow to download music/apps and almost impossible to watch streaming videos. I do agree, however, that Simple Mobile is a great deal for what it is and it's much better if you use one of the "4G" T-Mobile phones so you're not suffering with EDGE speeds. It's just not quite a drop-in replacement for anyone with an iPhone, especially a locked one.

Thank you! It's good to be back. I just have to say that once you start using the iPhone it's going to be next to impossible to go back to the Nokia. That nice big screen and all those apps get very addicting very quickly! And I sure was happy to be able to take Bejeweled Blitz anywhere I went. lol As for jailbreaking I used greenpois0n and it was easy.... but I don't know if it will work on 4.2 yet. If you can roll back to 4.1 through iTunes and then go to greenpois0n.com. There's also redsn0w but I've never used it.

You don't need to unlock the phone or jailbreak for data, but you do need to jailbreak to get MMS to work.
Again follow the instructions in the first post.

I have come to the conclusion that there is no way to jailbreak an iphone running 4.2.1. I have tried everything on this forum and on google I could find with no success.

I have 2 stock factory 4.2.1s that are jailbroken without issue, and you're the first I've seen who's had issue. every source says it works fine, it's just a tethered JB
