Info back up because I feel bad for the people that bought a e71 because of this post.
Thought I would do a quick how to.
If you have a iPhone (3G, 3GS, 4) and want to use StraightTalk $45 unlimited WITHOUT!!! unlocking your phone, here is what you need to do.
A few thing you should know
1. Your phone does not need to be jailbroken to make calls, send plain text or use the internet! The only reason to jailbrake your phone is to make MMS work!
2. Your phone does not need to be unlocked to make any of these thing work!
3. All of this was tested on a iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, both on iOS 4.2.1, on the newest baseband. IF you have problems, upgrade to the newest IOS.
Goto Walmart (And only Walmart!!! NOT EBAY, NOT CRAIGLIST!!!! WALMART!!!!!)and buy either a Nokia E71 or Nokia 6790 phone and a $45 unlimited card. Bring it home and activate it. (other phones will not work!!! only the e71 and 6790 comes with a compatible sim) Before you activate, make sure the sim card from either the E71 or 6790 says TF64PSIMC4 on it, if its missing the P in the part number, it will not work!
After it has been activated and you can make calls from the Nokia phone, take out the sim and put it in your iPhone (you will need a sim cutter to make it fit in the iPhone 4, go here to buy one for about $7 http://www.amazon.com/Noosy-Cutter-M...8045936&sr=8-2)
Your iPhone does not need to be unlocked or jailbroken for this to work!!!
At this point, you will only have access to phone calls and plain texting!
To get your internet to working follow one of the 2 methods below, pick one, it doesnt matter which one, just one that you think is easier for you. (You can skip this step IF you are going to jailbreak your phone for MMS to work! Just go right to the "If you want MMS" instructions)
Method 1 - download the attached StraightTalk.zip file below, unzip it, and e-mail the StraightTalk.mobileconfig file to your iphone.
Open the e-mail in your iphone (which should be connected via wifi at this point so it can get e-mails) and open the attachment and install it.
Method 2 - Goto http://unlockit.co.nz from your phone while on wifi, click/tap on continue, click/tap on Custom APN, then type in att.mvno in the APN field, leave the user name, pasword and carrier fields blank. Click/tap on create profile, then install the profile.
You should now have access to 3G internet!!!!!
Nothing further is needed if you dont want MMS
IF YOU WANT MMS, KEEP READING!
But if you want MMS to work, you will need to jailbreak your phone, to do so, visit this link, and follow all of the instructions to jailbreak using greenpois0n http://www.jailbreakmatrix.com/iphon...ered-jailbreak You can download the newest version of Greenpois0n from www.greenpois0n.com just click on the windows or mac icon to download.
Then follow these instructions after your phone is jailbroken and is booted into cydia.
search (in cydia) for TetherME and install it. It costs $1.99, not a big deal.
UPDATE: A bit of an update, you no longer have to install TetherMe APN Editing, the new version of TetherMe already includes TetherMe APN Editing. So skip the installation of TetherMe APN Editing below
After you purchase it and install it, search for and install TetherME APN Editing, its free. <---NO LONGER NEEEDED! READ ABOVE!!!
(The reason for installing TetherMe is to gain access to the Cellular Data Network tab, without it, you cant get MMS to work!!!)
After TetherMe is installed, exit cydia and go to your home screen.
Go to Settings, then General, then Network, then click on Cellular Data Network
This is what your settings should look like!
Visual Voicemail <----dont know the settings for this one yet, will update it when I figure it out!
MMS Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com:80
MMS Max Size: 1048576
MMS UA Prof URL:
How to change the carrier name from HOME to anything you want (like AT&T, or StraightTalk)
Search Cydia for a app called Fake Operator, install it. It will ask you to reboot your device, do it. After it reboots, go to settings and scroll down, you will see a new tab called Fake Operator, tap to enable fake operator, then tap on the bottom to edit the text. After you edit the text to whatever you want, reboot your phone and the new carrier text will appear at the top.
Thats it! Enjoy

HOW TO UNLOCK AND FLASH A NET10 LG 900G
That phone is so expensive. I wonder how you can get just a SIM. Especially since TracFone might cut you off when they catch on, and then you are stuck with a very expensive brick.
Does this mean the E71 phone will also work with any AT&T SIM? If so, I guess you could sell it on eBay and get some of your money back.
how's the speed on 3g? is it throttled like gophone data?
LG Nexus 4 - T-Mobile (postpaid)
Nokia Lumia 521 - T-Mobile (prepaid)
Samsung Galaxy S3 - Sprint (via Ting)
ZTE Valet - Verizon (via Tracfone)
Apple iPad 2 - WiFi only
Even if ST does catch on about it, I don't think they'd care since you can only use the N71 with the Unlimited plan. Shouldn't matter which phone it is. This may be Amerika Movil relenting a bit and realizing that they may be losing potential profit from smartphone users. And if you buy the N71, it can be flashed to an unlocked firmware. (if in fact it's actually locked at all)
Sorry guys I meant E71
Speed test shows 447ms ping time, 3.22Mbps download and 0.96Mbps upload. But keep in mind I only have 1 to 2 bars in my house at best. And the wether is very bad here with heavy rain.
2nd speed test shows 345ms 2.59Mbps down and 1.20Mbps up. Im happy.
Just a friendly warning that using the SIM with another phone is against their T&C, so you may have your account terminated with no warning. The second highlghted portion can mean that they may make your SIM only work with the E71 you bought. From ST's T&C...
Some Straight Talk wireless phones have SIM cards. If your Straight Talk phone has a SIM card, then you agree to safeguard your SIM card and not to allow any unauthorized person to use your SIM card. You agree not to, and not to allow any other person to, directly or indirectly alter, bypass, copy, deactivate, remove, reverse-engineer or otherwise circumvent or reproduce the encoded information stored on, or the encryption mechanisms of, your SIM card. You may not remove your SIM card or use the SIM card on any other wireless phone. Any violation of the restrictions on the use of your SIM card that are contained in this section may result in the immediate termination of your service without notice. The Carriers, TracFone Wireless, or its service providers, may, from time to time, remotely update or change the encoded information on your SIM card.
T-Mobile’s new marketing campaign for Vermont and Western New Hampshire:
“Try T-Mobile’s blazingly fast GPRS data network. We’re faster than iDEN and TDMA combined!”
Until they do, Im going to enjoy my ST iPhone 4!
It is not just StraighTalk you have to worry about. You need to think about how AT&T is viewing this. If they see a lot of useage, see a lot of their high paying contract customers leaving, etc. How much is At&t willing to accept.
Then again, how many people will want to deviate from the phones normal useage, have the knowledge to do anything or be willing/able to spend the money on this little hobby?
Guys you're missing the point here, If you pay $45/month for UNLIMITED TALK/TEXT/WEB, it shouldn't matter what smartphone you use. Since the E71 can consume just as much data as an iPhone. This may also be a test by Amerika Movil, you know reverse psychology. Just to see just how many people will switch their SIM to a different device and just how much data will be consumed.
For those of you who are sticklers for the rules, go ahead stick with a lame a$$ useless locked compal phone.
Personally I like to get what I pay for. And as soon as I can afford it, I'll jump the NET10 ship and hop on board the ST ship.
PLEASE, don't PM me with questions that could and should be answered in the open forum. Then everyone can benefit from the answer, and you will get more than "one" opinion... Thanks.
Guys, there will always be ney sayers, dont mind them. The rest of the world doesnt.
